Lansing lost by nine in a game where two hitters were hit in the head, the benches cleared, two Lugnuts were ejected, a hitter pitched and the Lugnuts made seven errors. It was one to remember, and forget. The Bisons won thanks to Brad Glenn and Shawn Hill. New Hampshire lost in extra innings. Dunedin lost despite three hits from Marcus Knecht and ten K's by Taylor Cole.

Buffalo 7 Louisville 5

A strong all-round effort for the Bisons. Brad Glenn was the main man, three hits and three RBI for the recent call-up. Jared Goedert had two hits, both doubles, and scored a pair.

Shawn Hill went six and gave up two runs. Raul Valdes pitched a clean seventh but he and John Stilson were touched for three runs in the eighth. Bobby Korecky came on for the save.

Portland 4 New Hampshire 3 - 10 innings

In a tied game in the tenth inning Ricky Bleier allowed a lead off single. He recorded two outs and then the call went out for Randy Boone. A double off Boone was the winning margin. The Fisher Cats had five hits, Matt Newman had two and Kenny Wilson scored two with a triple. Sox super-prospect Mookie Betts went 0-5.

Casey Lawrence pitched well, he wasn't helped by the defense who made four errors. Lawrence allowed three runs, two earned in 6.2 innings. Of note Dustin Antolin, who had been struggling, pitched two good innings.

Fort Myers 4 Dunedin 2

Taylor Cole was running hot and cold on Friday. He did record 10 K's and only allowed five hits. But two of the hits were home runs and Cole was charged with three runs. Justin Jackson had a mini melt-down when he entered the game and he gave up the fourth run when he hit a batter after loading the bases.

Marcus Knecht was the only hitter of note for the Jays. Knecht was 3-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored.

Lansing 7 Fort Wayne 16

There were a lot of notable events in this game. Justin Atkinson was hit in the head by a pitch in the third and left the game. Matt Dermody then hit a Tin Cap in the fourth leading to his ejection. The benches cleared after the second hit batter. The Lugnuts made seven errors and Jason Leblebijian pitched the eighth inning.

Dermody got blasted for eleven runs in less than three innings. Adaric Kelly was the best pitcher, he went two innings and gave up an unearned run. LB Dantzler hit a three run home run, DJ Davis a triple and Dawel Lugo a double.

Deck McGuire has been promoted to Buffalo, according to his Twitter feed.  Seems that he got a 4:30 am wakeup call and was told to head to Louisville, where the Bisons are playing.

It's a good move, and maybe overdue.  He's been excellent lately.  He needs to be challenged, and the Jays need to know if could become a rotation option.  Presumably he fills the spot vacated by Liam Hendriks.

Hendriks' debut game was a success, but the 3 walks and the warning-track flies are possible signs that he might not stick with the Jays.  In fact there are 2 unsettled spots in the Jays rotation, since Happ is inconsistent as well.  Everyone is assuming that Stroman will step into the rotation, but that's also a bit of a gamble.  If the Jays can develop another rotation option with McGuire, it could be very important option for the team this year.  Having said that, McGuire is probably the 8th or 9th man in the rotation depth chart, behind Stroman and Redmond and maybe behind Jenkins too.

Agree that Hendricks isn't long for the rotation, but he did secure an important win and its good to know we have another option. I still think Jenkins deserves a run and would like to see another month in AAA for Stroman (let some vets get a second and third look at him).

If we end up dealing for a starter I'm predicting that Happ is going the other way as part of the package since it'd be a good way to offset salary without crippling the team.

Why would a team out of contention be interested in picking up Happ's salary?

I'm sure he'll get offers next year to be the 5th starter somewhere, but nobody will be forced to pay him more than they want.

If the Jays cave to the cubs demands for Samardzija you can bet Happ will be going the other way.

You're trading your 4th Starter and valued prospects and ??? for someone else's Middle-of-the-Rotation Starter? Have I got a deal for you!

Aaron Sanchez had a start to forget tonight, walk, walk, walk, error, walk, HBP. 29 pitches, 10 strikes.

I generally do not get too involved in speculation about players because I do not know too much about other teams players. So I finally looked at Jeff Samardzija's bio. He is a good pitcher, #2 type most likely. It also looks like he could be a FA next year, but I do not know.

So he could be a rental. For a team firing on all cylinders this is a worthy pickup. By the trade deadline we will know the Jay's situation. The Cubs are a $ rich team so they will want a lot of talent. If he is a FA next year, I do not think they will get elite prospects/prospect. I certainly will not pay that price.
