Eight games on the farm on Friday and five wins. Jon Diaz propelled the Bisons to a win with a home run and a bases loaded walk. Aaron Sanchez ran hot and cold. Lansing broke out the big bats, Dawel Lugo had three hits. Vancouver swept a doubleheader, Miguel Castro dominated in his start. Bluefield won thanks to strong pitching.

New Hampshire led but frittered it away. Dunedin trailed early and their comeback fell one run short. The GCL Jays lost their opener.

Rochester 3 Buffalo 5

Aaron Sanchez had another "Sanchezy" start. He did go five innings, he did have four K's and he only gave up three runs, two earned. The big hit off him was a 2 run home run by Chris Colabello. But he did throw 43 strikes and 40 balls and he walked four. Three relievers over 4 innings only let the Red Wings have one hit.

Jon Diaz was the man for the Bisons. He hit a 3 run home run in the seventh to tie the game and worked a bases loaded walk in the eighth. Both the fourth and fifth runs scored on bases loaded walks.

New Hampshire 5 Trenton 8

The Fisher Cats led 5-1 but let the game slip away. Trenton scored singles in five innings before a 3 run eighth. Scott Gracey gave up the last four runs to take the loss. Scott Copeland started and gave up the other four.

Andy Burns went 3-4 and is hitting .295 for June.

Dunedin 5 Clearwater 6

Jesse Hernandez was hit around for 5 runs in the first two innings and the Jays could not get back on side. Chad Girodo pitched three innings and conceded the winning run.

Each team had seven hits. Christian Lopes hit his first home run of the season, a 3 run shot. Gustavo Pierre had two hits.

Bowling Green 3 Lansing 8

Lansing had 14 hits. Dawel Lugo had three including two doubles. Derrick Loveless was 2-2 with two walks, one of the hits was a home run. Dickie Thon, Matt Dean, Justin Atkinson and Dan Klein also had two hits.

Frank Viola made the start and went five innings. Shane Dawson pitched in relief and gave up a run.

Spokane 7 Vancouver 3 - game 1

This was a continuation of Thursdays suspended game. Andrew Case took over for Jairo Labourt and let his two inherited runners score plus one of his own but he settled down after that and went 4 innings. Justin Shafer took the loss.

Franklin Barreto and Jonathan Davis had two hits each.

Spokane 0 Vancouver 3 - game 2

A win in game two for Vancouver thanks to six innings from Miguel Castro. Spokane got four hits and one walk off Castro who struck out three.

The Canadians had just four hits, Barreto and Boomer Collins each doubled.

Johnson City 1 Bluefield 4

Ryan Borucki started and pitched into the fifth inning just allowing an unearned run. The bullpen was excellent, Conor Fisk and Chase Mallard pitched five perfect innings to close it out.

Josh Almonte had two hits, Rowdy Tellez had one but drove in a pair. Richard Urena had his first hot of the season.

GCL Phillies 7 GCL Jays 3

Jacob Brentz didn't get out of the first inning in his start. The best pitcher was Connor Greene, five innings, one hit, one walk, four K's.

The Jays outhit the Phillies 13-8. Juan Tejada was 3-4 with a double and a home run and 3 RBI. Cliff Brantley also had three hits. Lane Thomas, freshly drafted, played centre and was 2-4.

Chris King from Baseball Prospectus was at the game, here are some of his comments. Jacob Brentz was haunted by lack of control and command today. Velo was 92-94 topping out at 95 so there is a positive. Juan Tejada was impressive today. Good bat speed with a swing that creates loft & backspin. Not to mention he's got very good pop. Yeltsin Gudino is raw at the plate (only 17) but he keeps things simple. Very strong showing in the field. Excellent hands & range. Connor Greene was shaky to start but settled in and threw strikes the rest of the way. Definite improvement from last season.

Lots of good offense tonight, Castro and Barreto keep rolling in Vancouver.

I fail to see any positives in what Brentz is doing, though. Couldn't hit the strike zone last year, or in extended. Not a great way to start.

Glad to see Borucki back, I think he's a huge sleeper.

Castro was great, but in most leagues, one out of two does not constitute "swept".
