Buffalo lost again. New Hampshire won for the first time since August 31st. Vancouver, Dunedin and the FCL Jays lost. The Jays have promoted players over the last few days, mainly in response to New Hampshire's COVID outbreak. Several of those players have played well at the higher levels.

Buffalo 3 Rochester 7

Harrisburg 0 New Hampshire 4

Hillsboro 4 Vancouver 2

Clearwater 6 Dunedin 7

FCL Phillies 13 FCL Blue Jays 0

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

The Bisons had seven hits, split among three hitters. Juan Graterol had three hits including a home run. Gregory Polanco and Otto Lopez had two hits each.

Bowden Francis pitched well, he had five baserunners in five innings (three hits and two walks). Francis has pitched in 12 games for Buffalo. He has a 4.29 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP and 60 K's in 63 innings. I don't know if that is good enough to get him a 40 man roster spot this off-season.

The Fisher Cats gave the start to usual reliever Adrian Hernandez who struck out all five batters he retired. He also walked a pair. Hernandez now has 27 K's in 15.2 innings in AA. Hernandez is still just 21 years old. He was followed by Andrew Bash who, like Hernandez, has pitched at three levels this year. Bash threw five shutout innings to get the win.

Reggie Pruitt doubled in the first run. The next two runs scored on sacrifice flies. The last run was Spencer Horwitz's first AA home run. Hugo Cardona and Steward Berroa each were jumped up two levels from Dunedin and each had a hit.

Two bad innings cost Vancouver the game. Hillsboro had just four hits. Two of them were back to back doubles in the fourth inning off Paxton Schultz. They were the only hits and only runs allowed by Schultz in five innings. In the sixth Willy Gaston walked the bases loaded and a single gave Hillsboro their final two runs.

The C's had just six hits. Trevor Schwecke had two of them and also the only extra base hit by the C's, an RBI double.

With all the COVID related shuffling Gabriel Martinez got the call to Dunedin having hit .330 in the FCL. He just went 3-4 in his first A level game. He also walked, scored a run and drove in a run. Leo Jimenez walked three times. Miguel Hiraldo doubled in a run.

Nathanael Perez pitched well, two runs allowed over five innings.

Three Stars

Third Star - Otto Lopez

Second Star - Juan Graterol

First Star - Gabriel Martinez

Given the Jays lack of pitching prospects I wonder if the Jays may try to give Adrian Hernandez a shot at starting next year.

He's not very big ( 5'10'' 170 pounds ) for a pitcher, let alone a starter, but you never know.

In 2019 in the minors Nate would pitch 2 innings and then 5 innings. This worked. Hope he can do more in 2022.

This year We have had no 2-4 inning long relievers. 65 pitches to get through 4 innings seem possible to me. My guess is that we had too many bad pitchers so if given the opportunity they could not do it well.
