Vancouver Canadians

If his name makes you do a double-take, and it did to me, Jurrangelo Cijntje is the Seattle Mariners ' first-round pick in 2024, and he is at the Nat this week with the Everett AquaSox. Steve Ewen's Province article shared some interesting tidbits about him throwing both right and left-handed with a fastball that touches 98 when throwing right and in the low 90s when throwing left.

Cijntje didn't appear in Wednesday's game, and he should have as the C's blanked Everett 5-0.

Fernando Perez showed why he is the #11 Blue Jays prospect by MLB Pipeline, tossing close to six shutout innings where he struck out seven and walked one.

Vancouver scored a single run on a Jackson Hornung RBI single in the bottom of the second to get on the board.

The fourth inning was capped off by an Arjun Nimmala two-out two-RBI single to make it 5-0. All nine C's batters came to the dish that inning.

Nimmala continues to excel at the High-A level, hitting .278 with a .352 OBP and .876 OPS in 126 AB. He has seven home runs, 18 RBI and one stolen base.

Vancouver is now 17-18 on the season. The two teams play the third game of their series today at 7:05 pm PDT at Nat Bailey Stadium.

Buffalo Bisons

The Bisons were 8-4 losers to the Worcester Red Sox Wednesday thanks to a five-run fifth inning that put the game out of reach for Buffalo.

Joey Loperfido had a solo shot in the sixth, and the Bisons added another run in the seventh, but couldn't close the gap any further.

Buffalo is now 14-25 on the season. The two teams play the third game of their series today at 6:05 pm ET.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The Fisher Cats like to win or lose games 2-1 when I do my weekly minor league updates, and this week was no different as they lost to the Reading Fightin Phils.

New Hampshire did get on the board first when Yohendrick Pinango, the Blue Jays' 24th-ranked prospect, homered, but that was the only run of the game for the Fisher Cats.

Reading would only get a single run in their half of the seventh, which would be all New Hampshire would need as they held on to win 2-1.

New Hampshire and Reading play today at 6:35 pm ET.

Dunedin Blue Jays

The Dunedin Blue Jays were 6-3 losers Wednesday to the Bradenton Pirates despite holding a single-run lead into the fourth inning.

The Pirates scored three in the fourth and added a single run in the sixth and two in the eighth, with the Blue Jays only adding two in the bottom half of the fifth.

Dunedin and Bradenton play today at 6:30 pm ET.
