NOTES

Alek Manoah went 4.2 shutout innings only allowing one hit. But he did struggle with his command. He threw 88 pitches, 46 strikes and 42 balls. He walked five. His fastball only averaged 90.5. Paxton Schultz, Mason Fluharty and Dillon Tate followed him.

Anthony Santander homered, his second in AAA. I don't know if something was going on the game but he took a long time to round the bases, I timed it at 41 seconds. Even the Bisons commentators noted that he was in no hurry to get around the bases. He went 1-3 and is hitting .200 on rehab. He DH'd again today after his first game in the field yesterday.

Buddy Kennedy doubled in the other run. The Bisons had just five hits.

Good enough outing for Manoah. Should be ready to compete for a rotation spot next year.

Compete for a spot at 90 mph and poor control?

You make a good point Marc. 90mph with poor control should not get Manoah a rotation spot. He has until the end of ST to improve on that, so he has a bit of time.

I watched the start. Besides the lack of command, control, and velocity, he wasn’t inducing a lot of swings let alone swing-and-miss.

I think he has the makeup to fight back if the body cooperates.

I hope the pocket books are still open this off season because the Dodgers sure don’t rely on “if all goes as best as it possibly could and all our always injured pitchers are healthy” to build their rotation.
