Scranton/WB 8 Buffalo 0

Baseball’s back at the major and minor league levels with the Buffalo Bisons getting pounded by the Scranton/WB Railriders 8-0 Friday.

The flood gates opened on the Bisons in the third as the Railriders ' five-run third pretty much put the game out of reach.

Scranton/WB sent 10 hitters to the plate, racking up six hits along with the five runs as Bisons starter Grant Rogers was yanked partway through the inning. He allowed the seven hits, six runs and one home run against one walk and one strikeout.

Buffalo couldn’t manage any runs against starter Brenden Beck as he and three relievers surrendered only three hits.

We will have a full affiliate update next Friday as Dunedin, Vancouver, New Hampshire, and Buffalo are all in action.

The Bisons and Railriders are back at it on Saturday with game time at  1:05PM EDT.

Chad Dallas will not now pitch today. The Bisons have cancelled todays game due to low temperatures and high winds. They hope to play a doubleheader tomorrow.

Ah spring baseball! Guaranteed to get a few rainouts and cancellations due to bad weather.

Just looked at Bison stats - saw Kasevich got a hit opening day, as did Eloy Jimenez and Riley Tirotta. Sadly that was it. Good for them. 2 likely to get a shot at some point (Kasevich and Jimenez) while Tirotta has to hope for a weird event or someone else trading for him to get a shot.

I am watching 4 power hitters in the upper minors:

1) Schreck Ok Avg, good power, great bb/k ratio and solid D.

2) McAdoo has great power numbers.

3) Jace Bohrofen Good power potential and hopefully decent D.

4) Sean Keys V good power numbers and bb/k ratio. The quality of his D is unknown to me. Still in A+.

I honestly would refer to Schreck or McAdoo as power hitters. More 15-20 homer guys if they were everyday guys. Not sure either one is a future regular.

Its only 3 games, but power doesn't look to be a Bisons' strength. A double by McAdoo is their only extra base.
