The Cats put up double digits despite one extra-base hit on the night, a double by Nick Goodwin and only one multi-hit effort turned in by Jackson Hornung. Isiah Munguia was 1-for-3 with a walk and three RBI and Sean Keys singled and added two walks. Fernando Perez gave up four runs over two innings and Irv Carter surrendered two in 2⅓ innings but Carter got the win. Conor Larkin was the only pitcher not scored upon as he fanned two over two innings.

Johnny King struck out the side but gave up a first inning run to take the loss. He was up to 95 miles per hour. Holden Wilkerson gave up two more runs in 3⅓ innings but struck out seven. Eminen Flores surrendered the other run in 1⅔ innings. Jay Schueler and Jonathan Todd were perfect over the final three frames with Schueler whiffing two in two innings and Todd fanning one. Carter Cunningham had a two-hit night including a home run. Dub Gleed had two hits and a walk in his org debut. Arjun Nimmala was 0-for-4 with a walk.

By my count, King also generated eight whiffs on his 32 pitches, which is very good. Having trouble finding the zone in the first innning of his first start of the year is probably the least-worrisome time to do so, but control was the main thing lacking last year too, so something to keep an eye on.
