Three wins and four losses for the minor league teams. All the losses were by one run, two of them in extra innings.
Todays minor league report is short and not so sweet. The good guys were 0-3.
Must have been a snow day or something. All the teams had the day off except for those poor suckers in Dunedin and Auburn. Neither of those offensive powerhouses were really able to get things going as they only scored 4 runs apiece, but each still managed to win behind some solid pitching.
Syracuse rested while Pulaski romped. In close contests, New Hampshire won and Charleston lost. Dunedin couldn’t walk their way to victory, not with flammable pitching. Auburn finished up a thrashing, and then didn’t bother with offence, just to make it interesting in their regularly scheduled game.
Jamie Vermilyea returns to earth. A Chief hit a grand slam to turn a loss into a win. Syracuse had a winning week. Aaron Hill and Robinson Diaz each doubled in their only at-bat to represent the Blue Jays with distinction at yesterday's Futures Game.
Oh, what a Saturday. We welcomed Tom Cheek back to the radio booth, and enjoyed meeting Rob Bradford at Alice Fazooli's to chat about his fine new book Chasing Steinbrenner. While the big boys couldn't contribute a win to help us with our celebrations, the farm affiliates went 4-2 to inspire us to keep the faith.
A twinbill sweep, another Doubledays victory, and a very welcome debut by a player who was a Batter’s Box favourite even before he suited up in his first game.
A couple of the minor league teams also played late inning heroics last night. Charleston were on the right side, while Dunedin were the victims. Check the Auburn section for a great Chip Cannon story.
Only 2 farm teams went the regulation 9 innings in an unusual Wednesday night of action.

Like all great streaks, it had to end sometime. After retiring the first 42 straight batters of his AA career, Jamie Vermilyea’s perfect streak was ended last night with a leadoff single in the second inning. No need to worry though, he’s still working on a consecutive scoreless innings streak (18), consecutive innings without a walk (18), consecutive saves streak (2), consecutive wins in starts streak… how many more can Da Box think of?
Oh yeah, the Jays minor league affiliates won a few more games last night.
4 for 5 with a rainout for the Blue Jay farm, a night featuring 4 great pitching performances and 8 home runs.
Carlos Delgado looks to be ready. Charleston pitchers delivered a one hitter. Two other Jays teams had last at bat wins and two of the Jays pitching prospects pitched well enough to win, but did not.
Happy holidays to our American friends.
Two heartbreaking losses, and solid pitching in Dunedin, Charleston and Auburn were the highlights of a 3-4 record on Saturday for the farm affiliates.
One humiliating loss and a rainout in the Appalachian League was all that kept the Jays’ system from a clean sweep last night. Hmm, where have I heard that before…?
Two games went to extra innings, one game did not even go nine. A new player hit a home run for Dunedin, Carlos something or other. And yours truly is off to Buffalo to see the Chiefs.
