Sorry, Carl Crawford, but unless it's really a speed freak indicator that Henderson won in the West and Cobb in the Central, I suspect you will go vote-less in this poll.

There are three on the list who have legitimate arguments (though one is head and shoulder, IMHO) plus the hometown guy, so all the votes are likely to be spoken for. Steal 175 n 2008, Carl, and we'll revisit this.

So, the best player ever, a guy with an argument for it, a shortstop who played more games in a row than anyone, a hall of the very good in Stieb, and Crawford.

To me Ruth has to win, with Williams being the next choice if you do major reductions for non-integration era players.  Ripken would have a shot in many other divisions but not this one.
