Kirk predates me by quite a bit, but c'mon, Denny Crane. You can't say no to that man.

And here I thought I was choosing between Kirk Gibson and Noel Picard.
HippyGilmore - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 09:45 AM EST (#143913) #
Picard is the man, no question. He's everything Kirk isn't, and you can always count on him to analyze every situation with a clear head before making the tough decisions that need to be made. Kirk was exactly the opposite in most ways. While he was extremely loyal and his crew always came first, he made decisions on the seat of his pants and put his crew into unneccessary danger time and time again. It's gotta be Picard.

Kirk by a landslide.

Next poll should be "Which movie was worse: Star Trek, The Motionless Picture, or Star Trek V, Wrath of Bill Shatner's Ego".

Picard.

He was a true captain, left all the womanizing to Riker.

For those of us who don't give a rat's behind about Star Drek, None of the Above should be an option.
Jobu - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 11:19 AM EST (#143922) #
Excellent idea.

I haven't been this excited about a poll since "Doc- Yes?". Wait a second... that wasn't to long ago...

I think Picard is the man for many reasons, but one of them being an excellent dream I had not to long ago. I was having a party and I hired Patrick to be my doorman for the evening. The Shakespearian-trained actor did a FANTASTIC job... very jovial... fetching coats and waving goodbye to people when they left. Reminding them what I good dude I am and to come to my next party. I just couldnt see Shatner doing that.

... wait, what are we talking about again?
3RunHomer - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 11:25 AM EST (#143923) #

What about Janeway? Chick captains get no respect.

3RunHomer - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 11:33 AM EST (#143924) #

Now that I've discovered how to add photos to comments, I couldn't resist this one. Picard didn't fare so well against the Borg ...

But Janeway wiped the nasty buggers out. Nuff said.

Hey, did you see that the Twinkies are starting Juan Castro at shortstop? HA! Buffoons!

CaramonLS - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 11:40 AM EST (#143925) #
We could always have a best of the 3 'lesser' Captains.

Janeway vs. Cisco vs. Archer.
Greg - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 11:47 AM EST (#143927) #
I think Cisco takes the cake there. Who else is a veritable God unto a foreign species?

I don't know much about this Archer fellow, but I'm pretty sure Janeway goes 3rd. Although I could be wrong. She's like a pitcher on a really really awful team. You're not quite sure if it's her fault or her defence (ie. Torres and Chakotay) but either way someone's got to take the fall, and as they say, the captain goes down with the ship.
Jobu - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 12:01 PM EST (#143931) #
Cisco loved baseball...

I would expect that 3-way poll to pretty much be a cakewalk on this site.

Bah. I'd choose Delgado as captain of the starship Enterprise over these fools.

No. 2 in command? Dave Steib.

I feel obligated to vote for bill shatner, as hes a McGill grad and or student centre building is named after him - The William Shatner University Centre

Kirk could kill Picard in a one-on-one fight a la Wrath of KHAN.

Nuff said.
Mylegacy - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 01:14 PM EST (#143940) #

I can't believe I voted for Picard. When the Enterprise first sailed I could hardly wait for each episode. The original was so fantastic BUT Picard's was SO MUCH BETTER.

As Spock would say, "After all it's only logical."

Some of you may recall, and this seems like an appropriate place toremind newcomers, we actually built an All-Star Trek team here on Batter's Box some time back: A Star-Studded Enterprise. Feel free to add and comment on it even now, 10 months later!

Worst...Poll...ever.

StarTrek? Come On.
westcoast dude - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 05:03 PM EST (#143968) #
I know nothing about Star Trek, but it looks like Janeway would have been happier and more convincing with an AK-47 than with what is obviously a plastic Hollywood toy. It's science fiction? Oh. Nevermind.

Picard. For a multitude of reasons, but especially for the moment in "The Measure of a Man" when he points to Data and explains that "Starfleet was founded to seek out new life, well THERE IT SITS..." At that moment if he'd told me to jump, I'd have said "Yes Sir, how high Sir?"

I guess it's pretty pathetic that I actually know the names of the episodes...

CaramonLS - Saturday, April 01 2006 @ 08:02 PM EST (#143977) #
I saw that episode recently, the one where they were trying to take Data apart.

Dear Braby:

Please have a close look at the calendar.

That is all.

The William Shatner University Centre

I read that too quickly and my heart skipped a beat because I so badly want to go to William Shatner University. Or at least I want to have a sweatshirt from William Shatner University.
Nolan - Sunday, April 02 2006 @ 01:14 AM EST (#143982) #
Picard by a wide margin. Always made the tough decisions, was smart enough to get himself out of trouble when he had to (instead of relying on the crew), and his loathing of both Q and Lwaxana Troi were priceless.
