A setback, to be sure, but with Tom's fighting spirit and the help of those around him, only a temporary one. Here's hoping that the surgery next week will be a resounding success. Tom will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

I will always remember with deep emotion the spontaneous outpouring of love for Tom and his work on Batter's Box in the thread announcing his surgery last year. I will repeat some of what I said then - that the determination and grace that saw him through his thousands of consecutive broadcasts will help see him through this.

It was a treat hearing Tom's voice again this spring. May there be many happy returns...

As someone who has listened to Tom Cheek faithfully since '77, I missed his voice a lot at the tail end of last year, and I was really hoping he'd be able to get back in the saddle for this one. I still have hope. But with my father going through chemo and radiation therapy right now for lung cancer, I know how hard this process is.

Best we can hope for is that he beats back the cancer. Hearing his voice again calling play by play will be a bonus.

Such a shame that he has to go back in. Last year I was too busy (wedding plus moving) to listen to games so it wasn't until this spring that I noticed how much I would miss listening to games without him. Funny how you rarely appreciate what you have until it is at risk of being taken away. Best wishes, and never lose hope.

Tom, you take care of yourself. Your years are service are only an indication of your strength and durability, both on the air, and in life. You will overcome this and be back in the booth. We are pullin for you.

Good luck, Tom, and best wishes for a speedy recovery. I think I will pull out his outstanding book, "Road To Glory" this evening as a tribute.

For most Blue Jay fans, Tom and the Jays are forever linked and as the song says "You can't have one without the other".

Every time I see the beginning of a Jays' game, I think of Tom. I'll be thinking of him especially on Opening Day. Good luck, Tom. Stay with us.

Here's an inspirational story by Dave Perkins. There'll be games on soon in the Rogers Centre, and in it, a seat with Tom's name on it waiting for him.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Dave Perkins always hits the nail on the head. You can do it Tom. Jays fans who listen across the country are pulling for you.

I'm not even sure what a Jays game would sound like without Tom. I'll be the first one to admit that I sometimes turn the sound down on the TV because I'd rather watch the game and listen to it on the radio. Get well Tom.

The Texas chapter of the Blue Jays Cheer Club wishes you a full and speedy recovery, Tom. Take care.

I turned on Monday's opening day radio broadcast at the top of the fourth inning. Tom, you were back at the mike only 2 weeks after surgery. Catalanotto gets on base, Hudson yanks one out, and Wells follows with one to the catwalk. Three batters, three runs, it's opening day, the sun was shining, Tom back at the mike, and the world is a pretty good place after all. It's great to hear you again, Tom and we all wish you all the best.

Tom,
It is not the same without your easy-manner and wisdom of experience on the air. And, while we all wish to hear you back, we really wish you back to health!
Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery from London Ontario!
