Eric Hinske said he needed to play regularly to keep his stroke. So he started against a LH and hit a three run homer.

Not a great night for Gus the Polar Bear, but the bullpen allowed just one run in 6.2 IP, Hill and Hillenbrand each had three hits, and Gord Ash knows the bitter taste of defeat. La plus c'est change, la plus c'est meme chose. I think.

I think Gus' knees were weakened, if you know what I mean.

Ahem, JP, don't forget you owe us a Friday surprise.

So if Walker pitched tonight, who's going into the rotation to replace Gaudin?

I thought we were going to get Glyyn back for half the cash considerations.

Could it be that the Friday surprise was the signing of Romero.. only it was "leaked" a day before?

Does 2 homers from Menechino count as the surprise? I know I was shocked when I got home and saw the boxscore...

J.P. hinted that the Friday surprise was going to directly affcet our team, particularily the rotation. Romero isn't coming up so soon, and I doubt there'll be a ripple effect when he goes to AA.

In the Star today Chacin denies he got married. He says that will happen in the near future but didn't happen this week.

Is that the Friday surprise?

Wilner said in the postgame that the Friday surprise was Gaudin being sent down for Gross. The 'surprise' part was that it actually happened late Wednesday.

So I'm guessing the surprise is going to be who is pitching on Tuesday now that Walker was used last night?
westcoast dude - Saturday, June 18 2005 @ 12:08 PM EDT (#119994) #
Walker will pitch Tuesday (only 40 pitches last night) and will remain a fixture in the rotation, I suspect.

Wait. You mean that Chacin didn't get married? Yet, he pitched like he would the day after his honeymoon...
BallGuy - Saturday, June 18 2005 @ 04:59 PM EDT (#120004) #
VBF,
I know, and that scares me a little. I was hoping he got banged around during the game because he had been getting banged before the game. Apparently not. Well, at least not as part of a honeymoon or wedding celebration.
;) ;), nudge nudge
