Randy Johnson is the Ugliest Man in Baseball. He was Born To Lose. And lose he did, as the top of the Jays lineup got on base again and again and again. The Big Unit was crumpled and folded, and it was wonderful to see.

Oh, and SHEA HILLENBRAND STOLE HOME!!! And I was there! And someday I'll tell my grand-kids....

The announcers mentioned Shea's stolen base was the first time a Jay stole home in 4 seasons.

I remember Hinske stole home on a double steal either this season or last season at the Trop.

All around it was an entertaining game. Boy those Yank fans come out in full force at the RC.

There's nothing finer than seeing 10,000 Yankee fans put $200,000 in the Jays' coffers to watch their team lose.

I love this bullpen.

Not even seeing 10,000 Leaf fans put $1,000,000 in the Sens' (and scalpers') coffers to watch their team lose? (Well, in the regular season, anyways).

So many similarities...

So many similarities...

Hey now, please dont doom the Blue Jays to never again being able to win in the playoffs by comparing them to the Senators.

Blue Jays MVP this season? The bullpen: the entire crew. Can a bullpen be an MVP?

ESPN.com lists Mussina as tomorrow's starter for the Yanks, and MLB.com lists Leiter. I sure hope it's Leiter...

Moose has been fairly ordinary lately.

His last start lasted 4 2/3, he gave up 9 hits, 4 BB and 6 ER, mind you he did strike out 7.

I agree with you Lieter would be better, but I'm pretty confident the Jays could scare up a few runs against Mussina.

Towers always impresses after bad games, and he's been real, real, good lately. I'm not going to have too many expectations and say that our offence will have to win this game.

No Cheer Clubbers except for me and some random people who showed up who were really noisy and fun. Where was everyone?

The best line of the game came from an elderly couple whom I eavesdropped on while in the elevator...

"Wow, great crowd today. Do you remember those years when the place would only be half full?"

I estimated about 18,000 Yanks fans were in attendance, but their overwearing of merchandise and obnoxiousness made them seem more in numbers. Nice to see a good crowd anyways.

Someone touched about this in the chat log, but it appears Scott Downs is a bit of an enigma. He works efficiently, but he gets rattled if his routine is broken up or if his natural flow is disturbed. This hypothesis screams sample size, but I have noticed a pattern from this game and the one in Texas and wonder if there is more to this.

Good news out of the Metrodome: Mueller and Timlin's errant throws cost Bosox the game. Good to see Ramirez swing at the first pitch with the bases loaded top of the 7th, into a 5-4-3 double play. The East is up for grabs.

On Friday night, my guess would have been that there were 20,000 Yankees fans out of the 44,000.

Most of them come on buses and leave on buses, as I saw many Yankees fans leaving last night cheering as they entered as they left left the building walking towards many buses.

Tomorrow, the Jays better not get into one of these high-scoring games, because I really don't think they can compete with the Yankee bats in that department.

I still am reeling that Shea Hillenbrand had the balls to steal home there. What a way to catch the Yankees napping.

I was outside when it happened, and Vanessa shouted that I had to come inside NOW to see this AMAZING REPLAY.

I kept thinking this too Ron!

And after searching around retrosheet (say it with me: "God Bless Retrosheet.") I have found evidence:

http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B06290TBA2004.htm

BLUE JAYS 1ST: Menechino singled to second; Hudson forced Menechino (third to second); Johnson flied to center; Hinske singled to center [Hudson to third]; Gomez singled to right [Hudson scored, Hinske to third]; Hinske stole home and Gomez stole second; Berg grounded out (second to first); 2 R, 3 H, 0 E, 1 LOB. Blue Jays 2, Devil Rays 0.

I knew I wasn't going crazy. The media is wrong. :)

Not only does Shea have the balls to steal home, but Pete Walker named himself when describing his pitches coming in to face A-Rod with the bases loaded: Quality Balls.

A lot of Yankee fans are in from Rochester via the ferry. Me Grimlock was told that the ferry had sold out with Yankee fans coming in to watch the game.

Me Grimlock was in 519, row 4 and could clearly hear the cowbell whenever the count got to 2 strikes. It had to compete with that obnoxious airhorn in our section.

I just saw the steal home. Wow, does good defence ever look important. The score was 4-3 and Giambi looked like John Kruk out there. No offense to Mr.Kruk.
