Josh Banks pitched very well, notwithstanding the boxscore showing 4 earned runs in 7 innings. Banks gave up a solo homer to old acquaintance Jason Dubois and that was it through 7 innings. One hit, no walks and six strikeouts. Andy Marte led off the bottom of the eighth with a double and two bunt singles later, Banks was out of the game. A fielders' choice and a double off Ryan Houston plated the other runs. The Sky Chiefs could manage only 3 hits in the game. Nasty Mastny threw a scoreless ninth and now has thrown 34 lovely innings of relief for the Bisons.

Ismael Ramirez and Kyle Yates combined on a 3 hitter, and Chip Cannon chipped in with a cannon shot as the Fisher Cats silenced the Thunder. Ramirez went 5 innings, allowed the Thunder 2 baserunners and struck out 1 for the win. Yates finished it off for the long save, allowing 1 baserunner and striking out 7 in 4 superb relief innings. Cannon reached base 3 times, while Manny Mayorson singled twice and drove in 2. Adam Lind was still out of the lineup with his jaw injury.

Russ Savickas and three relievers combined on a 4-hitter, while Eric Arnold's 1st inning double drove in Aaron Mathews with the only run of the game. Savickas went 6 innings, allowed 4 baserunners and struck out 4. Po-Hsuan Keng, Connor Falkenbach and Milton Tavarez threw an inning each with a single Manatee reaching base over the 3 innings.

Casey McKenzie had a nice start, save for 2 pitches. Both ended up in the seats for 2 run homers. McKenzie went 6 innings and gave up 4 runs, 3 earned on 7 hits and no walks with 5 strikeouts. Ted Serro and Josh Sowers were nicked for runs in relief. Anthony Hatch doubled twice, while Big City Metropoulos continued his hot hitting, reaching base thrice. Brian Pettway tripled among his 4 plate trips.
Staten Island 8 @ Auburn 5
The Yankee affiliate triumphed in the 3rd matchup of the organizations of the night, but two out of three will win you a pennant. The Doubledays scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game, but four walks in the top of the ninth were their undoing. Second baseman Scott Campbell doubled twice in 5 tries, while Luke Hopkins walked twice in 4. Matt Liuzza doubled among his four trips. Five pitchers took the rubber for Auburn with Benjamin Harrison's 2 innings of 1 hit, no walk ball capturing the most attention.

In the opener, the P-Jays couldn't mount an attack until the 6th inning. Trailing 3-0, the Jays scored on a Jonathan Jaspe double and a Baron Frost single, but a double play ended that uprising and effectively the game. Travis Snider went 0-3. Kyle Walter started and went 2 innings, allowed 2 hits and no runs, struck out 2 and best of all walked nobody. Adam Rogers gave up 2 runs to take the loss.
In the nightcap, the Pulaski gloves failed them, with 3 errors leading to 4 unearned runs. Luis Fernandez singled twice and walked in four plate appearances, but made 2 of the errors. Starter Kyle Ginley went 3 perfect innings with 3 strikeouts, and the pen did a nice job overall. Travis Snider walked twice in 4 appearances. Yohermyn Chavez did not play in either game of the doubleheader.
