Frank Thomas hit his 499th home run of his career in the 4th inning.

Time for a contest! Home run number 500 will come against:
1.  What pitcher
2.  What Day
3.  What Inning

I'll take Scott Baker, Tuesday night in the first inning.

I'll take the first shot at a cheap win : today, 6th inning, off Fogg.

I was going to say he'll hit it off Johan Santana (didn't he go deep twice against him in an ALCS game last year?), but after checking the probables it looks as though the Jays won't face him in this upcoming 4-gamer.  Sweet!

The next best thing to doing it at home would be the July 1 game at Safeco, which will undoubtedly have a large Canadian contingent (including my brother) from The West.  So that's what I'm going with.

I think it goes without saying that no game has ever seen both a 500th career home run and a no-hitter. The Blue Jays came awfully close today to doing just that.

Juan Rincon, tomorrow.

Er, 7th inning.

Kevin Slowey, Tuesday.  I've given up trying to predict the Blue Jays lineup so I'll just say on his second at bat.

Boof Bonser on Wednesday, 1st inning

Every time I go to the ballpark (including today), I think about the possibility of a no-hitter.  I had a bad feeling with Tulowitzki in the 8th, but I didn't see Baker's single coming in the 9th.

That was the best performance by a Jays starter since Halladay dominated the Twins in 2005.  I will be surprised if this outing doesn't turn out to be the best start of the 2006-08 seasons.

wow, we really could have the makings of a great rotation

Tuesday, 8th inning for number 500. Dustin McGowan's  no-hitter into the ninth brought back memories of hearing a similar Dave Stieb effort many years ago. Borderline dance: the beat goes on.

Saturday against Miguel Batista, 5th inning.

Less because I don't think he'll hit one before, and more because I've got tickets to that game and want to see him do it / have a small chance of catching it.

Scott Baker, Tuesday, third inning, 2-0 fastball, way out to left. Puts the Jays up 4-1.

Let's go for the big time: Joe Nathan, Thursday, 9th inning.

Wow that was before I read the above comment.....

I guess to be specific it will be a solo job with 1 out and an 0-1 count.

Kevin Slowey, 1st inning, 0-0 pitch.

Thomas loves hitting at the MetroDome.

Thomas loves hitting at the MetroDome.

Did Frank say that? Because he hasn't hit particularly well there over the years, by his standards anyway  He's hit .265, .350, 455 with 12 HR in 325 at bats at the HubieDome,  which is way below his lifetime numbers of .305, .424, .566. And by the way, don't those career averages of his just rock?

But what the hell. Slowey's already given up 7 HR in 22 innings. So make it in 8 in 23 - first inning, tomorrow night.

Lol, that's okay Alex.

Tonight, first inning with a man on(Rios) and a 2-1 count with 2 down.  With  the .00001% chance that I'm right I feel very good about tonights game.
Edmonton Marc - Monday, June 25 2007 @ 06:21 PM EDT (#170601) #
Has to be tonight against Slowey, who's giving up 2.82 HR/9IP.  Say, 2nd inning, none on.  (I'd say the first, bases loaded, but others have already picked the first, and I'd doubt Slowey'd give him anything to hit with men on.)

Canada Day, JJ Putz, ninth inning -- ties or wins the game.
Gerry - Thursday, June 28 2007 @ 01:29 PM EDT (#170791) #
Only one guess for Thursday......Rob.  But Rob said it would be off Joe Nathan.
