Four losses.  Brandon League took the loss for the Chiefs in extra innings.  Vernon Wells and John McDonald had more than half of Dunedin's hits.  Lansing threw the game away and New Hampshire lost easily.

Columbus 4  Syracuse 3 - 11 innings

This game was tied until Columbus scored off Brandon League in the 11th innings.  The Chiefs had only six hits, Wayne Lydon had two.  Eric Kratz and Hector Luna hit solo home runs.

Erie 9  New Hampshire 4

Erie scored in each inning from the fourth to the seventh to win easily.  AJ Wideman and Jamie Vermilyea conceded the runs.  The Fisher Cats had nine hits, Anthony Hatch had three, Scott Campbell and Travis Snider had two each.  Snider drove in two runs with a double.

Dunedin 2  Jupiter 4

The Jays had only seven hits and four of them were by major leaguers, two each for McDonald and Wells.  Kyle Ginley took his first loss of the season by giving up three runs in 5.2 innings.  Ginley allowed eight hits and two walks so he wasn't as efficient as he has been.

While League did manage to walk the bases full in the 11th, he got the last three outs, 2 with K's, and only gave up the go ahead run when he fell off the mound making a pitch. It was one of the more bizarre things I've ever seen. I guess he just slipped,  but whatever happened he didn't follow through so much as fall over. He also hit 99 on the gun last night, so things are all right there. David Smith didn't manage to get a hit in this one but did hit a ball that was caught right in front of the 408' sign in center field (Now that Syracuse has moved to grass, the stadium is absolutely cavernous.)

On another note, the loss last night cost the Chiefs the chance to move into first place in the International League as a whole. This is the first really good team Syracuse has seen in 10 years. Its too bad Toronto gave Syracuse so many bad teams, many people don't want to see Toronto back in Syracuse, given the run of futility we've had to endure.

Thanks, BJF, for the report.  League hitting 99 is very interesting.  His control has been respectable this season, and he's getting oodles of ground balls, so he may be Toronto-bound within the month.
