One of the greatest baseball players in the history of the Toronto Blue Jays franchise, having already taken a spin through the New York (NL) circuit, has opted to sign a minor league deal with the most successful MLB franchise of this decade (that's still weird to write), the Boston Red Sox. Delgado is set to report to Triple-A Pawtucket Sunday.

One word: ick.

Is that an 'ick' as a Yankee fan, or an 'ick' on behalf of Blue Jay fans?

This Blue Jay fan is unperturbed. The Sox in my book are a respected rival. The Rays are annoying, the Orioles are amusing, and the Yankees are loathsome. I'm glad that Delgado is getting a chance to play again, and especially that it's for a contender.

If the Jays were contending this year, then I'd be less than thrilled with this.

Well, I've never met him, but he's an all-time great BlueJay and it will be good to see him back on the field.  Hope he has something left.

This.

I've never been a big hater of the Red Sox - albeit I've never had to deal with a Red Sox fan face to face.

Thirded.
Though I did have a good time chanting "we're number two" a few years ago.
Be nice to see Delgado in the dome again.

O ye of little faith.  The Jays are 3.5 games behind the Sox and Youkilis is gone for the season; they are 9 games behind the Rays, and this, to me, does not seem insurmountable.  Weird, eh?

Nonethless, I wish Delgado well in Boston.

I'm just happy to see him playing baseball again.

Delgado was the guy I had plastered all over my walls growing up. I dislike the Sox, but am glad he's getting a chance to play again.
