We're so late to jump on the podcast bandwagon that it isn't even a bandwagon anymore. We're trendsetters!

The inaugural episode of the "Boxcast", Batter's Box's official podcast (as opposed to all those imitations running wild out there) features Box scribes Anders Whist, Thomas Ayers and myself talking Jays, ZiPS, and Prince Fielder. More details inside.

In part 1 we discuss the ZiPS projections recently posted at Baseball Think Factory and guess who might exceed or fail to meet their projections. In Part 2 (at the 30 minute mark) we look more closely at the left field situation and discuss Travis Snider and Eric Thames. In part 3 (41:30) we speculate on where Prince Fielder may end up. The whole thing runs just under an hour.

We'll figure out the whole "subscribing on iTunes" thing for Episode 2. In the meantime, listen to the Boxcast here. You can also download it by clicking on the arrow on the far right of the embedded Quicktime player and selecting "Save as Quicktime movie."

Stay tuned for Episode 2 coming in a couple weeks! Episode 2 will feature the debut of the Boxcast's own original theme music, unfortunately ending the current one-episode streak of copyright infringement. If you're listening, Beyoncé, our sincerest apologies, it's just the one time, we promise!

We'd love to hear from you guys. Feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoy!

Very nice, guys.

Small quibble:  Snider is less than 15 months younger than Thames.  It is not obvious that Snider's long-term realistic upside is much higher than that of Thames.

And da Box charges boldly into even more multimedia! We've had photo essays, interactive interviews, and now a podcast? Wooohoo! 2007 ain't got nothin' on us!  :-)

P.S. for realz, nicely done, gennemen.

I liked it. Hope you do one at the end of ST when the 25 man roster is filled.

I enjoyed the podcast. My suggestion is to include a reader mail/question segment for the next podcast.

We'd love to hear suggestions, we'll try to get an email address set up or something but in the meantime please, leave suggestions, questions, comments, topics, whatever and we will try to incorporate them.

We think we're going to go bi-weekly until the end of spring training or so fyi...
