I could see Stroman getting it but I think Buxton has the edge over Pillar and that's only because Kiermaier missed so much time.

Some actual Blue Jays news....Bo Schultz, Cesar Valdez and Darrell Ceciliani have been removed from the 40 man roster.

Players on the 60 day DL such as Tulo, Sanchez and Travis have to come off it soon. There is no 60 day DL in the off-season.

Appears it is semi-official that the latest Marlin sell-off is on now.

Key point is their plan A is to trade Giancarlo Stanton, Dee Gordon, and Martin Prado. 2018 salaries total $49 million which would get the Marlins to their goal of a $90 million payroll roughly. Prado is dead weight and Gordon is good but not great (high speed, avg, low power, low walks). An interesting idea might be to see about doing a 3 team trade - Jays take on those 3 and trade Donaldson somewhere for prospects. A net $29 mil payroll jump (if you guess Donaldson would get $20 mil in arbitration). It would be a lot like what Toronto did for Miami back in 2013 - eating all their excess payroll in exchange for a couple of top players today. Trading Donaldson would suck but Stanton would easily fill the 'superstar' slot and with Vlad Jr in the wings for 2019 or 2020 that would just leave 2018 as a stopgap year.

Hey, crazier stuff has worked - honest!

If I were in the position of trading for Stanton, I definitely want Donaldson still here.
Next year anyways
Donaldson & co  at 3B 3.9 (Donaldson 5.0 fWAR in 115 games)
Bautista & co at RF -0.5 fWAR
Barney & co @2B -0.8 fWAR
Goins & co @SS -0.5fWAR
Stanton  RF 6.9 fWAR
Gordon IF 3.3 fWAR
Prado (3b fill in?) -0.1fWAR in 37 games but 3 WAR solidly for a while. -0.4 prorated.
2017 9.8>2.1 fWAR =+7.7
But Stanton has that long injury history. so maybe in 2018  you're only getting 4.3 (Stanton's career average) and Prado at 2.0 and Gordon at 2.5 =8.8 And Maybe the Jays have Hernandez & co putting up 2 WAR in RF and Tulo and Travis being worth 3 WAR combined and you're now down a TON of money for not  better production.
There's a ton of IF there. But that's a huge risk where there's already bad perception of the last trade with the Marlins.
I would want to hang on to Donaldson at least for the season, and I wouldn't consider it with Guerrero or Bichette involved, which probably makes it a no deal.
I would trade for Gordon, though as long as there's no asking the Marlins to eat salary like was rumored at the deadline.
