The Blue Jays affiliates lost three of four Tuesday. #LetsGoBlueJays

Syracuse 16 Buffalo 2

The game was tied at 1-1 after three innings before things went horribly askew for the Herd. Sean Reid-Foley left after four-plus innings due to a back/side strain according to John Lott. Reid-Foley gave up a home run among his five runs but two of the runs were unearned after his own throwing error. Buddy Boshers gave up a run in two innings, Corey Copping was cuffed for five in his one inning and Kirby Snead was slapped around for four more runs (three earned) in one frame. Jordan Patterson was needed to mop up in the ninth and gave up a run. Only Patterson did not serve up a long ball.

RBI singles by Anthony Alford and Socrates Brito provided the Bisons offence who were 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position, leaving 13 men on. Billy McKinney had a hit and two walks while Alford, Patterson, Richard Urena, Reese McGuire and Andy Burns had a hit and a walk apiece. Patrick Kivlehan was 0-for-1 in his Bisons debut. Teoscar Hernandez was 0-for-5 and Alen Hanson was 0-for-4.

Harrisburg 8 New Hamsphire 4 (7 Innings)

Patrick Murphy was punked for seven runs over 4-2/3 innings on seven hits and four walks. He gave up a home run while posting strikeout and groundout totals of four. Vince Nittoli was nicked for an unearned run but yielded just one hit while striking out four over two frames.

Alberto Mineo mashed a three-run homer that tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth. Kevin Smith had an RBI double in the second. Forrest Wall was 2-for-2 with two walks. Nash Knight singled and walked. Vinny Capra, Santiago Espinal, Brock Lundquist, Riley Adams and Chad Spanberger all put a dent in the hit column.

Dunedin 10 Tampa 5

Alejandro Kirk and Ryan Noda led the way for the D-Jays. Kirk doubled in the first run and scored on a Noda home run in the first before providing a single and sacrifice fly respectively in the third. Kirk would double in another run in the sixth. Kevin Vicuna went deep in the fourth and Logan Warmoth doubled in a run two innings later. Kirk was 3-for-3 with a walk while Warmoth and Cal Stevenson had two hits and a walk apiece. Demi Orimoloye had a hit, Cullen Large drew a walk but Chavez Young and Kacy Clemens were 0-for-4.

Maximo Castillo lasted six innings and gave up two runs on six hits. He struck out two and got seven outs on the ground. Dany Jimenez struck out two batters in the sixth. Connor Law yielded two runs in his one inning but struck out two. Brad Wilson gave up a run but struck out one in the ninth.

Dayton 8 Lansing 1

Cobi Johnson was jolted for six runs on seven hits and three walks over 4-1/3 innings and was taken deep three times to offset five strikeouts. Fitz Stadler gave up a two-run home run among six hits over 3-2/3 innings, walking one and whiffing two.

Gabriel Moreno belted a home run and had the only two-hit game for the Lugnuts. Nick Podkul, Jake Brodt and Hagen Danner had the other hits. Hunter Steinmetz was hit by a pitch but Tanner Kirwer (0-for-3), Reggie Pruitt (0-for-1), D.J. Neal (0-for-4), Luis De Los Santos (0-for-3) and Rafael Lantigua (0-for-3) were held in check.

FG with their 2nd mock draft, this one 2 rounds.

11. Blue Jays – Jackson Rutledge, RHP, San Jacinto JC (TX)
We’re told Rutledge threw privately for Toronto recently. If Rutledge goes eight or nine, then whichever of the lefty college bats (Stott, Bishop) is left becomes the favorite. This is where Seattle-area prep CF Corbin Carroll’s name starts to get mentioned.

52. Blue Jays – Ryan Jensen, RHP, Fresno State

J Rutledge and R Jensen sound good.

I guess Carter Stewart has signed with Japan. He said he would. I could not find him on the top 200 list. As a 19 year old he probably will have difficulty with experienced Japanese hitters. I don't know much about Japanese farm teams. Maybe he goes there.

Here's a Jackson Rutledge piece that I found helpful.  Rutledge's date of birth is apparently April 1, 1999, i.e. he just turned 20.

Thanks for the link, Mike. Interesting to see more and more pitchers are using Rapsodo and understanding their spin rates. Also noteworthy ex-Jay Woody Williams is his coach now.

Those 2 picks seem to align with this FO and their contention window - I'd be surprised if they went HS early

I would be pretty happy if that ended up being our first two selections, nice combination of present skill and upside.

Alford 2-4 with 2 doubles. He's had quite a turnaround in May. In 101 plate appearances, he is hitting .292/.376/.449 with a 24 K% and 10 BB%. Whatever adjustment he made in the beginning of the month seems to be working. Hopefully he can continue on this path and be a viable OF option in the 2nd half of the season. If Gurriel can stick in LF, and Alford can be a contributor in CF, then suddenly the OF might not be so bad.

I think Alford is still striking out too much during his hot streak and his BAIP is really high.

Josh Winckowski put up another huge stat line tonight, but for some reason I have a feeling his numbers won't translate to higher levels like Justin Niccolino's never.

Eric Wedge has left the Jays and is now the head coach for Witchita State.

There are definitely still areas Alford needs to improve on, but he looked horrendous in April, so incremental improvements are a good thing. Even with a likely BABIP drop in June, as long as there are good indicators (K% drops, BB% stays around 10% or improves, etc), then it's a good sign.

I agree, any progress is good
