Buffalo won the first game of their doubleheader. And here ends the good news, all other games ended with an L. It was especially tough for Dunedin who are still battling for a playoff spot. Vancouver lost but had a ninth inning lead. PK Morris and Trenton Wallace had good games. LJ Talley had three hits as it was a good day for the initialed class.

Gwinnett 1 Buffalo 3 - game one

Gwinnett 4 Buffalo 3 - game two

New Hampshire 0 Reading 11

Eugene 6 Vancouver 4

Palm Beach 8 Dunedin 1

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

In the first Buffalo game, Nate Lukes singled in a run in the first inning and LJ Talley hit a two run home run in the fourth. Talley had two hits.

The Bisons used four pitchers, Hayden Juenger pitched the last two innings with three K's.

In game two the two teams combined for seven runs with seven hits. Nick Allgeyer gave up a three run home run and Eric Yardley walked the lead off hitter in the sixth and he subsequently scored the winning run.

Three of the Bisons hits came in the fourth inning where they scored their three runs. After a walk, Davis Schneider had an RBI doubles, Cullen Large an RBI triple and LJ Talley an RBI single.

Paxton Schultz gave up four runs in 4.2 innings, Braden Scott gave up five in 1.2 and the Fisher Cats were down 9-0 in the seventh. It didn't get any better.

Six hits for the Fisher Cats, two for Cam Eden.

Vancouver had a 4-2 lead headed to the ninth. Three walks, an error and a single made it a tied game. Then a called balk put Eugene ahead. The balk call was controversial, Connor Cooke dropped the ball when he was on the mound and the umpire said he was on the rubber. Replays suggested it wasn't so obvious. A sac fly made it 6-4. I should also note that looking at Gameday for the ninth inning walks is not complimentary to the other umpire either.

Trenton Wallace was excellent in five innings. The side arming lefty struck out seven while allowing one run. PK Morris had three of the C's four hits. One of them was a home run and another a double leaving him a triple short of the cycle.

Dunedin did not get good pitching, all five of their pitchers were scored upon. Rafael Ohashi was one of the pitchers, making his first appearance since June 11th.

Alan Roden scored the only run and he was the only hitter with two strikes.

Three Stars

Third Star - LJ Talley

So Buffalo is still in it - 5 1/2 back before today but with an elimination number of 13 (down to 12 at least). New Hampshire is long out of it. Vancouver is in as Eugene was the winner in both halves making Vancouver the best of the rest. Dunedin is in first still by 1 game before tonight's game but Brandon is winning 5-0 in the first with the bases still loaded so I suspect we are looking at a tie for first after tonight. Sadly the D-Jays are playing the best team in the FSL this weekend (Palm Beach) while Brandon is playing Clearwater, the worst team in the FSL. Sigh. This is the final weekend so the D-Jays still have control over their fate, but the odds are against them.
