Buffalo scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth for a walk off win. The winning run was driven in by Spencer Horwitz who had four hits in the game including three doubles. Orelvis Martinez went deep twice and Adam Kloffenstein pitched well again as New Hampshire won. Orelvis has had a horrid start to 2023 but three home runs in two days could be a positive sign of things to come. Vancouver scored 13 runs in their win. Riley Tirotta had a big night. Dunedin hitters added three home runs and won by ten runs. It was a fun night on the farm with four wins and plenty of good performances.

Everett 1 Vancouver 13

Clearwater 5 Dunedin 15

NOTES

Drew Hutchison has not found his groove yet. Syracuse scored five runs off him in four innings and his ERA is 6.75. Someone who has found his groove is Spencer Horwitz. He doubled three times on Thursday, and added a walk-off single, to raise his average to .321. He has walked 25 times already, almost as many as his strikeouts. His OBP is .455. He has just one home run, but 12 doubles, his SLG is .462.

Adam Kloffenstein continued his good 2023. He struck out seven in five innings. He did give up a two run home run, his only hit allowed. But only one run was earned as the runner before the home run reached on an error.

Orelvis homered, his sixth, and he has homered in back to back games. Could it be the start of a recovery, signs of swallows in spring? Miguel Hiraldo also homered. After a disappointing 2022, when he hit .231 in Vancouver, Hiraldo is off to a better 2023. He is hitting .264 with an OPS of .719. Hiraldo is 22 years old so he still has development time. Damiano Palmegiani and Sebastian Espino also homered.

In Vancouver Riley Tirotta came to bat in the first inning with the bases loaded. He doubled to drive in all three runs. In the second inning he again came to bat with the bases loaded and he tripled to clear them again. He singled in the eighth to make it seven RBI and be a home run short of a cycle. Cade Doughty homered and singled. Estiven Machado had three hits for his second game in a row.

On the mound Adam Macko had another good start, five shutout innings, one hit, three walks and four strikeouts.

Dunedin hitters went deep three times. Roque Salinas hit his first, Peyton Williams his third and Abiezel Ramirez his first. Williams got off to a slow start in 2023. He was hitting just .131 on April 29th. But since April 30th Williams is hitting .476. He was 3-4 with three RBI on Thursday.

Rafael Sanchez was charged with four runs in six innings.

Kloffenstein is doing great. In his 1st game Z Britton caught for the only time this year. Britton is having a good offensive year playing OF/DH but has had some injuries. He would definitely have more value as a C. That is up to the development people.

Groshans is having a bad year so far. I remember an interview where he said AA pitchers throw very hard but the control/command is not there. In AAA the pitchers don't throw hard but have good control. Our AAA pitchers are not doing so well. Zulueta has control issues.

Many prospects are disappointing so far this year. But it is early.

Todays game in NH Robberse VS Mick Abel. Both top prospects.

Orelvis has a 1.134 OPS the last 7 games with a .077 BABIP. 6K and 3BB in 26PA.

When Orelvis puts the ball in play, 65% of them are in the air. 8% are line drives. Of the 57% fly balls, 26% are pop-ups and 20% leave the yard. He's uppercutting tremendously and with good but not huge power. It's the same profile as last year, but even fewer line drives.

I would need to see a lot more consistency and improved performance from Orelvis before I get excited (again) about him.

Orelvis still makes very poor swing decisions and the short time his bat stays in the hitting zone doesn't give me much room for error.

Kloff is pitching much better but the stuff still makes me think No. 5/6 ceiling... Possibly a No. 4 with further development. Despite the recent Ks he doesn't have a strong outpitch... Slider has flashes of promise but I def wouldn't slap a plus grade on it.

Very tough outing for Carter tonight. Gabby Martinez continues to rebound in Vancouver with his third homer of the year.
