Buffalo walked off Syracuse again, the third day in a row. On Saturday they were a run down headed to the ninth. With two outs Wynton Bernard singled, Rob Brantly walked and James Ritchie tied the game with a single. That set things up for Tanner Morris to single in the winning run. After a rush of wins earlier this week, that win was the only one for the affiliates on Saturday.

Syracuse 7 Buffalo 8

New Hampshire 1 Reading 4

Everett 7 Vancouver 5

Clearwater 8 Dunedin 3

Three Stars

Third Star - Michael Turconi

Second Star - Alan Roden

First Star - Tanner Morris

Jordan Luplow followed up his two home run game with a two hit game, a double and a single. Rafael Lantigua did homer and added two other hits. Lantigua, who recently turned 25, has always hit well at every stop up the ladder. He is hitting .312 and he has 19 walks and 20 strikeouts. His OBP is .430 and with 15 extra base hits his SLG is .968. He currently has a 139 wRC+. If he can continue this performance he could move ahead of Otto Lopez on the utility fielder backup chart.

Yosver Zulueta came out of the bullpen in this game. In his last start he jusy went two innings. Now he has added two innings in relief. Is this a permanent change in his usage? We should know more next week.

Nick Fraze, back down from AAA, started for NH and gave up a run in three innings. Hagen Danner got five outs, two via strikeout.

Zac Cook hit his first home run of the season.

Dahian Santos went four innings for Vancouver, striking out three and giving up two runs.

Alan Roden and Michael Turconi each had three hits. Two of Roden's hits and one of Turconi's were doubles.

CJ Van Eyk made his second start for Dunedin. In four innings he struck out seven, just allowing one hit, a solo home run. According to baseball savant Van Eyk threw 77% curveballs with a max velocity of 94 mph. Obviously something is wrong there but it could be a good sign that Van Eyk is throwing a pitch that savant cannot categorize. Ryan Jennings followed with his 95 to 96 MPH fastball. It worked sometimes, he had seven K's in three innings. But in his third inning he lost the strike zone for a while and gave up some hits and four runs.

Peyton Williams hit his fourth home run, a 107.7 MPH shot. Williams also grounded out at 103 mph. Tucker Toman his hit first home run.

Is Turoni a prospect? All he does apparently is hit. Maybe he should get more love?

After reading the Batters Box write up of the farm I go the the team sites. They have nice writeups.

C's Plus is a favorite of mine. There are videos about the highlights. You get a feeling about how fast a player is, can an OF make a very difficult catch. The best would be the C throwing out a runner. The "Radar Gun"!! Lastly the interviews are great.

Good help for the major league team is not ready yet. IMO the 3rd C is very important because he has been needed the last few seasons.

I have been speculating on promotions happening soon. Before the end of May, mid June and end of June.

Whoever does the next minor league write-up will mention the Bisons' Ernie Clement. Went 5 for 5 including his 5th HR of the season. Knew he was an offseason signing and that's it. So I looked him up.

He's up to 125 PA's on the season and WHAT?!?!. He has a 3.2% K rate. Which means he has more HR's (5) than strikeouts (4). Never seen that before. Needless to say, of the 877 qualified in all levels of the minors, he's the only one.

Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams did it!

Clement is 27, and anybody with a 12/4 K and 5 home rund can probably hit a bit. He's had good plate control over his minor league career and maybe has added muscle. Do you believe in miracles?
