Notes

Ali Sánchez homered for the Herd's only run. He had two hits along with Rainer Nuñez and Josh Rivera. Buffalo was 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Adam Kloffenstein pitched four innings and gave up a solo home run among four hits, two walks and a hit by pitch. He struck out five and got six outs on the dirt. Justin Bruihl, Kevin Gowdy, Ryan Burr and Dillon Tate pitched scoreless relief with Tate whiffing three over two innings. Tommy Nance was tagged with the loss. The Bisons could not shut down the running game with seven stolen bases against.

Jackson Hornung had three hits, including a double, in his Double-A debut. Not bad for someone who found himself starting the year on Vancouver's Development List despite being a Northwest League All-Star last season. Jace Bohrofen had a triple among his three knocks. The Cats were 0-for-8 with RISP and had eight men LOB. Juaron Watts-Brown took the loss with two runs allowed over 4-2/3 innings on five hits, three walks and an HBP. He struck out three with a half-dozen groundouts. Alex Amalfi stranded a runner and pitched three innings of one-run ball. Johnathan Lavallee stranded two runners by retiring the only hitter he faced.

Sean Keys, Eddie Micheletti and Je'Von Ward all put one over the fence with Keys and Micheletti having two-hit nights and Ward drawing a walk. Micheletti also robbed Richmond Hill, Ontario native David Calabrese with a leaping catch near the right field wall to take away extra bases. Keys and Micheletti both homered against reigning Northwest League Pitcher of the Week Ryan Johnson who pitched for the Angels against the Blue Jays earlier this season. Victor Arias also had a two-hit night and singled home the winning run in the seventh past a diving infield to cash in a triple by Quebec City, QC native Nic Deschamps. Jackson Wentworth was nicked for one run on three hits and a walk over six innings in which he struck out nine. The man whose middle name is Carter split his eight outs in play evenly on the ground and in the air. Johnathan Todd gave up the lead by allowing two runs in the seventh. Chay Yeager finished up with five punchouts over two frames, working around a hit and a walk for the save. Fans who were hoping to see Colby Martin light up the radar gun at Nat Bailey Stadium will not get the chance to do so. He was at the park last night but was held out of the C's lineup after being traded to Miami for righthander Robinson Piña.

Alexis Hernandez had a perfect night at the dish with a double, a single, a walk and a hit by pitch. Sam Shaw clubbed his seventh homer of the year. Tucker Toman singled, walked and stole a base. Manuel Beltre and Eduard Duran heard ball four once. Dunedin was 1-for-13 in the RISP department and left 10 men aboard. Juanmi Vasquez yielded three runs in four innings for the loss. Johan Simon turned in a nice line of three scoreless frames and six punchouts and Eminem Flores was the real Slim Shady with three Ks over two shutout stanzas.

At the Complex, Amir Garrett perplexed with just one out recorded and gave up five runs, including a dinger. Sann Omasako put up five zeroes in relief, scattering three hits, ringing up four batters and recording nine outs on the infield. Aldo Gaxiola had two hits, Dylan Leach doubled and walked and JR Freethy had two free passes. Enmanuel Bonilla had a day to forget by going 0-for-4 and committing an error in left field.

In the DR, Angel Guzman and Daniel Dominguez both homered for the Blue squad. Franklin Rojas was 2-for-2 with a walk and a plunk and stole a base. Cristopher Polanco, Rafael Flores and JT Bain all walked twice with Bain adding a base knock. Flores stole a pair of bags. Geremy Barroso, not to be confused with Leafs legend Tom Barrasso, got the win and Enyer Dominguez got the save. For the Red squad, Elaineker Coronado had the only multi-hit effort and drew a walk, improving his batting eye with 22 bases on balls against seven strikeouts in 16 games. Juan Sánchez singled, walked twice and scored three runs. Pascual Archila was on base four times with three walks and an HBP.

Great game to be at last night in Vancouver. Thanks 2JBrumfeld for the tickets.

C's hit three dingers and broke the game open after a quiet first five innings.
