NOTES
Johnny King seems to be figuring out AA hitters. He went five shutout innings, three hits, one walk, eight K's. King's first start in AA saw him walk five hitters. But since then in three starts he has walked five in 14 innings. His AA ERA is now 1.50. Angel Obando followed and the Mets hit a solo home run off him in the seventh to take the lead. And that was it for scoring.
The NH hitters had six hits in the game, all singles, by six different hitters.
Gage Stanifer pitched the eighth. He used 21 pitches and threw more balls than strikes (11-10). He walked one and struck out one.
Vancouver had a five run second inning to set them on their way to the playoffs. In that inning a single and two walks loaded the bases. David Calabrese and Jean Joseph both doubled to score two runs. Dameury Pena singled to score the fifth run. Calabrese, who is from Richmond Hill, was signed in mid August. He has played over 300 games in AA but he never hit over .221 at that level so he qualifies for a demotion to Vancouver's level.
Dariel Ramon doubled in a run in the third before the C's put up another five spot in the fourth. Ryan Sprock doubled in a pair before Maddox Latta and Calabrese added RBI singles. In total the C's had 14 hits and ten walks. Six of the hits were doubles. Calabrese had four hits and four RBI, Sprock had three hits, Latta and Ramon two each.
Dasan Hill started and just went three innings. He was charged with one run and struck out four. He threw 49 pitches.
In the first Dunedin game Sann Omosako started and went five innings. He gave up two hits, one of which left the park. He struck out two. Karson Ligon followed and he was charged with the other three runs. The Jays had just three hits. The game was shortened to six innings because of rain and game two was postponed.
