NOTES

Buffalo were down 6-0 in the fourth inning and could not catch up. Adam Kloffenstein only went 3.2 innings and was charged with five runs.

RJ Schreck homered and singled. Jon Clase doubled twice, Alan Roden had two singles. Newly arrived Buddy Kennedy had three hits.

NH trailed 8-2, came back to take a 9-8 lead in the seventh but four runs in the ninth lost them the game 12-9. Khal Stephen made his first AA start after nine starts in Vancouver and it did not go as he wanted. Four innings, five runs allowed with Binghamton hitting two home runs off him. He had just two K's. Chalk it down to a learning experience. Ryan Watson came out of the bullpen to start the sixth. He had three shutout innings under his belt when he came out for the ninth. He did get two outs with a man on, one out away from the win. But two ground ball singles tied the game. Watson was replaced by Grayson Thurman who surrendered a three run home run.

Dasan Brown had a nice game, 2-3 with three RBI. The usual suspects, Jackson Hornung and Cade Doughty had two hits each.

The Vancouver game was tight, for a while. Edinson Batista did go four innings and only allowed one run. But Spokane scored five off the bullpen.

Cutter Coffey had two doubles and he has seven hits in his last four games. Nimmala had a double and was hit by a pitch. The "new guys", Sam Shaw, Edward Duran and Peyton Powell each had one hit. Shaw also struck out three times.

The Tampa Yankees had to face Alek Manoah and they scored one run off him in two innings. Then Johnny King showed up, nine K's in four innings. He did walk four but Tampa had just one hit.

Looking at Savant data, Manoah threw 28 pitches, 23 of them were the sinker/4 seam combination. The fastballs averaged 93 mph with a max velo of 94.3. Manoah had four whiffs.

King threw 69 pitches, he used five pitches. He only threw two changeups, that leaves 67 pretty well mixed between sinker, curve, 4 seam and slider. His max velo was 95.5 with a FB average of 93.6. King had 13 whiffs off 28 swings.

Tucker Toman had a big day, two home runs, three RBI and a walk. Daulton Varsho hit a three run home run.

BA RoboScout notes

Blue Jays shortstop Arjun Nimmala has been slumping too with a 31 wRC+ over his last 108 plate appearances and only one home run. He has maintained manageable 23% during that stretch, so view this only as short-sample variance. RoboScout still projects the 19-year-old as a 20–25 home run bat at peak.

Red Sox lefty Payton Tolle and Blue Jays southpaw Kendry Rojas each added another strong outing last week and remain entrenched in the No. 3 and No. 4 spots on the Double-A charts. Both have excellent performance with strikeout rates above 40% and walk rates around 5%. Based on their season-long performance across multiple levels, RoboScout projects both as future midrotation starters. With Tolle already in the BA Top 100, it’s fair to say Rojas is underrated right now.
