Max Scherzer was perfect through five innings. It wouldn't count as perfect because Josh Kasevich made an error but Max himself was perfect. And the hitter who reached via error was thrown out stealing.
The Bisons had eight hits, and nine walks, leading to nine runs. Davis Schneider hit the only home run. Kasevich singled and doubled and he has had a multi hit game in seven of his last eight games. Jay Harry had a two run double and another RBI on a ground out. Daz Cameron tripled and walked three times. Cameron has a career .200 average in MLB over parts of five seasons.
Arjun Nimmala doubled and scored in his first at bat and homered in his second. It was a very impressive home run, hit to right field with what looked like a very short swing and the ball went 432 ft. Carter Cunningham homered too and the game was tied at 3-3 headed to the bottom of the eighth. In the eighth NH loaded the bases thanks to a hit batter and two walks. Jorge Burgos broke the tie with a grand slam home run. Cunningham, Nimmala, Eddie Micheletti and Nick Goodwin had two hits each.
Jackson Wentworth started, went three innings, 66 pitches, and was charged with two runs.
It was Johnny King night for Vancouver and it wasn't vintage Johnny. In four innings he gave up four runs in six hits and a walk. He also added two wild pitches.
The C's trailed 6-2 heading to the eighth. In that inning the C's had four soft hits and the Hops added an error to score two runs. On to the ninth trailing by two. Ryan Sprock started the ninth with an inside the park home run. There was some controversy as the centre fielder said the ball left the park for a ground rule double but the umpire did not agree and Sprock just kept on running. Then with two outs the C's added three more runs with four singles and a walk. It seemed as though the C's BABIP'd the Hops with lots of soft contact and infield hits. Alexis Hernandez, Manny Beltre and Mathieu Vallee had two hits each. Vallee had four RBI.
Dunedin had 19 hits in their win. Blaine Bullard drove in six runs with two doubles and a single. Giaconino Lasaracina and Raimundo De Los Santos homered. Lasaracina is hitting .284 with an OPS of 866. He now has the same number of at bats in Dunedin as he did in the FCL. His strikeouts and walks are similar. His BABIP is down from a high .464 to a more reasonable .333. His home runs have halved also. However todays HR left the stadium at 381 feet and 108 mph. Also Gaxiola had three hits, Jojo Parker and Juan Sanchez two each. Gaxiola runs hot and cold. Here are his monthly batting averages: .174; .318; .190; .308.
Blake Purnell went six innings with two runs allowed.
