The Bisons had six hits in their game, Josh Kasevich had half of them. He had two singles and a double. His hot streak continues.
Javen Coleman had his AAA baptism of fire. He came on in the fifth. A soft single, a walk and a triple led to two runs. Richard Gallardo had started and went four shutout innings with six K's.
The first NH game was a blow out, they trailed 9-1 in the fifth. Chris McElvain was the starter and Somerset scored five off him in four innings.
Arjun Nimmala had two of the Cats five hits. He did hit a home run as did Eddie Micheletti.
Gage Stanifer started game two and, yes, it was another typical start. In five innings he walked four, struck out seven and was charged with four runs. Rinse and repeat.
The Fisher Cats had seven hits in game two, Micheletti had two hits. Jacob Sharp started game one, his first start for NH, and went 1-3. He pinch hit in game two and had a hit so he is hitting .500 in four at bats.
Vancouver's Carson Myers gave up three runs in the eighth to break a 5-5 tie and hand the C's the loss.
The C's had eight hits, Maddox Latta and JR Freethy had two each.
The Dunedin game was shortened to seven innings. It was a pitching and defense game, the teams combined for five hits. Jojo Parker singled in a run in the fifth and Jake Cook homered in the seventh.
When Cook was drafted it was noted that he had limited experience as a hitter as he mainly pitched in college. That inexperience showed early, he hit .211 in May. June was similar, .222. But now he is hitting .304 in July and he has cut his strikeouts almost in half. He still has little power but it is progress.
Two rehabbing pitchers, Daniel Guerra and Connor O'Halloran were part of the shutout.
The FCL Jays finished their regular season with another win. Angel Guzman and Andres Arias homered. Pascual Archila had two hits and he leads the team in OPS. Semi final is on Saturday, the final is scheduled for Sunday.
Brandon Barriera made his first appearance since May 13th and pitched well in rehab, 2.1 innings, no hits, four K's.
