Vancouver Canadians
The Vancouver Canadians were 12-10 winners over the Eugene Emeralds Friday thanks to some extra innings magic by Jake Casey.
Casey’s three run blast in the top of the tenth was his second of the game. He also had seven RBI in this one.
Franly Urena got the win for the C’s despite surrendering a game tying two run shot and Dariel Ramon had a strong game for Vancouver as his double in the seventh made it 9-8 C’s.
Vancouver has moved to within half a game for first place in the second half after beating Eugene in this one. They have a three game lead on the Everett Aquasox for the second playoff spot in the Northwest League.
The series continues tonight in Eugene with first pitch is at 5:05pm PDT. Troy Guthrie gets the ball for Vancouver (2-2, 4.88 ERA).
New Hampshire Fisher Cats
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats used three runs in the ninth inning to beat the Erie SeaWolves 4-2 Friday.
Carter Cunningham broke a 1-1 deadlock with a sacrifice fly and then Cutter Coffey’s two-run single made it 4-1, all in the ninth.
Johnny King retired the final 10 batters he faced in this one and struck out three in his second Double-A start. He also pitched five full innings.
Gage Stanifer, Aaron Munson, and Kelena Sauer combined for four strong innings of work in relief of King to keep the Fishers Cats in the ball game so they could complete the comeback.
New Hampshire and Somerset play again today starting at 6:05 PM ET. Jackson Wentworth (6-7, 4.80 ERA) will start for the Fisher Cats.
Dunedin Blue Jays
The Dunedin Blue Jays crushed the Clearwater Threshers 10-2 on Friday thanks to a huge offensive game from Jake Cook.
A two-run triple in the 6th and a double in the eighth highlighted another strong game for Cook who has registered an RBI in six straight games. He has had four multi hit games in his last six contests.
Denis Samudio allowed one run in five innings of work as well a five punchouts.
Dunedin and Clearwater play today at 6:30 pm ET. Dunedin’s starter has not been announced.
Buffalo Bisons
The Buffalo Bisons blanked the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 8-0 on Friday thanks to a multi-home run game from Sean Keys.
Keys had five RBI’s as well as the two dingers. Peyton Williams was up to his old meat trucking’ ways with two singles and a double.
Yohendrick Ponango also had a two run single made it 8-0 in the sixth.
Richard Gallardo threw five innings of one hit ball to go with two walks and five strikeouts for the Herd on the mound.
Buffalo and Lehigh Valley play again today at 6:35pm ET. CJ Van Eyk gets the start for Buffalo (6-3, 3.76 ERA).
