Since we've been way late with these lately, I thought I'd post this really early for a change.

Two games today, both at 8:00PM

Pedro Martinez vs. Jon Lieber in Game 2 of the ALCS
Brandon Backe vs. Woody Williams in Game 1 of the ALCS

Until then read Spencer Fordin's article about the six Jays players who were taken off the 40 man roster.

Be sure to catch the pre-game show with Mike Wilner starting at 7PM on The Fan 590. Tonight's guest is Orlando Hudson.

Moffatt, that's a great headline.
I have nothing else to add, but that needed saying.

In case people can't find the FAN 590 link, COMN for the link.
First thing I heard when I clicked that to make sure it worked? Hockey. Of course.

Thanks Mick!

I love those cheesy 70's TV episode names like "Death Drives a Stick" (okay, that was the Simpsons, but still)

That link works in Firefox. Thanks Rob!

The evening, avoid...
_Mick - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 07:05 PM EDT (#26451) #
I am simply appreciative that Mike managed to keep the word "Daddy" out of not only the hed, but the entire post!

P.S. he don't need any extra "H's" against that Sox lineup ... it's Jon Lieber.
_Moffatt - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 07:06 PM EDT (#26452) #
What h? There is no extra h!

/Thanks. :)

Am I the only one who can't hear a word the O-Dog is saying?
Thomas - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 07:46 PM EDT (#26454) #
I only tuned in for O-Dog's last answer, but I make it out perfectly clearly. The guy said he thought O-Dog would make a great leadoff hitter and he asked if O-Dog agreed. Orlando said that he expected to hit 2nd, 6th or 7th, but that he's happy to hit anywhere in a major league lineup.
_Magpie - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 08:18 PM EDT (#26455) #
If Schilling indeed is not going to pitch again in this series... well, all previous predictions are Inoperative.
_Magpie - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 08:43 PM EDT (#26456) #
Well, Pedro's stuff looked just filthy in that inning. Toobad it took him the first two hitters to get some control over it.
_jsoh - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 09:16 PM EDT (#26457) #
Someone kill Scooter. Please. And make sure its reeeaaaallllly reeeaaaaalllly sloooooooooow.

And painful. dont forget painful.

sheesh.
_Grimlock - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 10:46 PM EDT (#26458) #
Is that Jon Lieber or Roger Clemens??
Thomas - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 10:48 PM EDT (#26459) #
Phil Garner would like to forget that inning.
_DGriebeling - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 10:52 PM EDT (#26460) #
I just noticed Tom Gordon has a moustache..... is he the only Yankee? Why is he allowed to have facial hair? Wow, that was a surprising discovery...
_JackFoley - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 10:53 PM EDT (#26461) #
Yankees are allowed facial hair, just not below the ears.
_Jobu - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 11:05 PM EDT (#26462) #
What if they have really BIG ears?
_Jobu - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 11:08 PM EDT (#26463) #
PS. Beer Club was fun, we'll try to give the rest of you who couldn't make it this time, more heads up as that was a common reason.
Thomas - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 11:26 PM EDT (#26464) #
With Pete Munro going tomorrow, the Astros could be looking at the same scenrio as the Red Sox; going home down 2-0.
_DGriebeling - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 11:28 PM EDT (#26465) #
Being too lazy to look it up, is Pete Munro an ex-Jay, or am I insane? (heck, or is it both, for that matter)
_Loveshack - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 11:29 PM EDT (#26466) #
Anyone else having trouble figuring out where the strike zone is?
_Grimlock - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 11:31 PM EDT (#26467) #
Wasn't Peter Munro the one who wore #69 for a brief period?
_6-4-3 - Wednesday, October 13 2004 @ 11:54 PM EDT (#26468) #
Yep, Munro was a Jay, and he wore #69 for part of 1999, then switched to #13.

According to the Globe and Mail, Rogers is about to buy SkyDome. COMN
_BCMike - Thursday, October 14 2004 @ 02:25 AM EDT (#26470) #
Welcome to the Staple Dome? ;)
_Jobu - Thursday, October 14 2004 @ 03:37 AM EDT (#26471) #
Hey, maybe all those crazy Skydome renovations we dreamed up in a thread last month might come true after all.
_Niles - Thursday, October 14 2004 @ 05:03 AM EDT (#26472) #
Horray, no more sportsco with there crappy concessions and insistance that a new jumbotron is the skydomes #1 priority.
Mike Green - Thursday, October 14 2004 @ 08:42 AM EDT (#26473) #
Last night's game illustrated why the Yankees are so tough. The key players, Lieber and Olerud, were wise relatively low-cost acquisitions by Cashman. A smart general manager who has the dollars to spend can go a long way- that is a lesson we know all too well in Toronto.
Craig B - Thursday, October 14 2004 @ 09:02 AM EDT (#26474) #
Anyone else having trouble figuring out where the strike zone is?

Yeah, the plate ump was having this exact same problem.
_Jays1fan1 - Thursday, October 14 2004 @ 02:27 PM EDT (#26475) #
All I have to say is that Peter from Kitchener had a very intelligent question for Alex Rios during the pre-game show for game 1 of the Yanks/Sox :)
Thomas - Thursday, October 14 2004 @ 07:53 PM EDT (#26476) #
Care to expand on that Jaysfan or is that facetiousness I detect?
_Jays1fan1 - Friday, October 15 2004 @ 08:52 AM EDT (#26477) #
The 3rd caller, or as I referred to as, 'Peter from Kitchener' was me.

I asked Alex Rios what other prospects he saw comming up through the system we should look out for. He said Aaron Hill, and everyone else we have pretty much already seen this past year.
