Game Threads Game 30: Duque and Dave
And now here comes the best team in baseball -- improbably, it's the White Sox, who are off to a much faster start than anyone expected. But as Gwyn points out in his excellent AL Central Report, and as Mike D confirms in another superlative Advance Scout, the ChiSox are playing somewhat over their heads these days. Now would be a good time for the Jays' bats to wake up against some overachieving Chicago starters. The ageless El Duque Hernandez opposes the rapidly improving Dave Bush tonight in a matchup somehow reminiscent of 1980s Expos broadcasts.

Don't forget, the countdown to IRC Game Threads is on -- Monday, May 9, marks the debut of Batter's Box's coolest new feature.

He's trying to pass another left-hander who is much, much taller and throws much, much harder. It's a battle of the undefeated at Fenway: Moyer vs Matt Clement.

No more "Game Threads" really saddens me (if that is indeed the case).

However, if the "Game Report" has a 3-star selection for 'Best in Chat', I might forgive this.

binnister, I think that is a *terrific* idea. If you and some of the others in chat want to start a "stars of the chat" comment report in the game story thread the next day, by all means!

Just be sure to read the game story first to make sure what you're posting isn't already used or isn't wildly at odds with what's posted.

Zaun just displayed the definition of staying back on a slow curve.
He had already taken his stride but kept his hands back and used his bat speed to get the ball into the gap for a single.

I missed the beginning of the game. What's the problem with the batter's box? (the one at Rogers Centre I mean). (Seems more logical to record it here than to interrupt the chat.)

A lot of the White Sox are wearing plastic cleats that are more conducive to running on the turf portion of the field. Pierzynski has had minimal trouble with his metal cleats. Ozzie Guillen has interrupted the game to have the grounds grew do work on the area on occasion.

It is interesting that this is only happening now. I recall going to SkyDome last year and when the crew would take the mini-tarps off the field, all that was there was the clay base. They'd then spread a thin layer of typical infield dirt over the base. You'd think there would have been more of a problem last year when the was more of a disparity between the texture of the dirt and turf areas.

Tough loss, but great plays by O-dog, and Zaun, threw two out of the three out at second if I am correct.

Also, Is this the first time they have had a problem with the box? I don't remember it ever being such a problem. I pretty much bit my lip in half when Hudson fell down.

It's weird because every time I see AJ Pierzynski do a TV interview he seems like such a nice guy, but apparently he's one of the worst clubhouse cancers in baseball.

Once during an exhibition game when he was with the Giants, Pierzynski took a ball to the groin. The trainer came out to examine him and asked, "How does it feel?" Pierzynski replied "LIKE THIS!!" and kneed him in the crotch.
