Who is heading to the Rogers Centre this long weekend?

It's not quite the Cheer Club as the O-Drum is gone, possibly never to return again and NFH is busy with his young one. Nevertheless, I'm sure there will be some eager fans in the 500 level cheering on the Blue Jays. I also know somebody must have some good seats that they'd like to brag about and make everybody else envious. Feel free to use this thread to let Bauxites know which, if any, games you are attending in this weekend's series. You can also use this thread to plan meetings, before, during or after the game.

Who is going to see the great Ted Lilly vs. Claudio Vargas pitching duel? Who is going to see Hill's MLB debut, whenevr that occurs? Who is going to see the Doc on Saturday? Who is dying to see TBA (Sawkiw speculates Hector Carrasco) pitch for Montreal on Sunday? Who has no other plans for their Victoria Day weekend?

I'm going to all three games. I'll be with the Cheer Club (Cowbell Crue) on Saturday and Sunday, but I will be in 141 cheering on Vernon Wells Friday with TorontoDan and some friends of mine. I do extend the invitation out to internetland to come on out to 141 and cheer on our fielders ala Yankee Stadium with the "George Bell".

Don't worry about buying the actual seat. Buy a 500 level ticket and my foolproof plan will keep the ushers happy. Anyone making plans for some signs. Expos, Selig, Hill...they should get some decent exposure from the 100.

Pitch for Montreal?
VBF - Friday, May 20 2005 @ 09:59 AM EDT (#117181) #
Nah, just something basic like "Je me souviens" etc, acknowledging the Expos in some way.

I'll be there......It'd be nice to get some more people on the weekend from the Box, although with the numbers we've been getting, it's been kind of pointless sitting along the first base line at 518. I know it's against tradition, but being closer to the middle isn't a bad thing, if we don't have a horde of people and/or a drum :)Unless I'm missing a better reason to sit over there in the first place!

Hopefully you guys can hear the Cowbell(s) tonight. We'll be working our tails off cheering for the Jays in the outfield.

My sons and I will be there on Staurday, sec 524, row 7

We'll look up the Cheer Club in 518.

Great game today...bullpen heckling, Hill ovationating, and lots of fun.

Me, TorontoDan, and I believe Thomas will be in the CC tomorrow as well as all the people in internetland who wanna come over.

It was pretty sparse up in 518 - me, KT and a couple of others - but we still had the usual whale of a time. We called Wells' first homer. The cowbell was clearly audible, as were the "Aaron Hi-ll" chants emanating from 141 late in the game. The large contingent of Montréal fans concentrated in the 500s made for a unique atmosphere. And imagery of the moon on the Jumbotron does mean offense.

I am in for tomorrow's game. I crave cowbell!

The cowbell was easily heard on the Sportsnet broadcast. Good show, gents.

I'll be at tomorrow's game, but in the camera bay. Sorry. Though I did think up something too late to do anything about it: we should have hung pictures of Youppi over the rail instead of Ks whenever a National struck out.

One thing about Toronto crowds is how they can vary. We were initally sitting in 141 in front of the most angry people who clearly hated the world (hatred in its most pure form). The ushers handed one of them an All-Star ballot and the guy ripped it up in front of him and threw it on the floor. His girlfriend (isn't Dog Day in July?)kept hers and was looking for the Blue Jays on the ballot. After she had thoroughly checked the NL portion of the card she came to her own conclusion and said "Oh, the Jays suck. That's why they're not on the ballot". Her boyfriend continued to bash Ted Rogers.

And that's when I got mad.

I told her in a very harsh and crude way where she could find the Jays on the All-Star ballot and her boyfiend told me to back off. I said that I'm a season ticket holder who likes to be helpful to other fans. He told me to go back to my seat. I said I was already there.

We then left for greener pastures and found a very large contingent of Jays fans intent on making appropriate noise. That's who you heard.

Sorry if it's off-topic, but I just can't stand people like that. Their tickets were free too, compliments of Ted.

That's hilarious! I wish I could have seen that. I don't think you can just buy a 500-level ticket and sit anywhere this weekend. I tried sitting lower down and the ushers asked to see my ticket twice so I moved up to 518 where I was lucky to find Alex and crew. I'll be sitting there the rest of the weekend, I suppose, unless I hear otherwise on this thread. I'm not married to 518, but starpasses only give you 500-level tickets.

I'll be down in 518 at tomorrow or Sunday's game, but I'm not sure which. Knowing me, it'll end up being both.

Today was a lot of fun, and the Hill triple was probably the highlight. Too bad we had to move away from the Aaron Hill Fan Club sign. I think we forgot to grab it after the game, too.
TorontoDan - Saturday, May 21 2005 @ 01:47 AM EDT (#117302) #
That was a great game. 141 was all bad mojo, but once we moved we really got going. Much as I prefer the view from a more central location, I'll probably be at 518 tomorrow. GUILLLEN....GUILLEN....

Jo-se DoublePlay, clap-clap clapclapclap.

Are the Jays hiring loud people to sit in the stands becuase the sound difference from 2004 to 2005 is like night and day.

One more thing, did anyone see the "Aaron Hill Fan Club" sign during the highlights or during the game on TV. A buddy of mine said he saw it on the MLB Extra Ininngs telecast.

Yep, it was on there a couple of times, and Jamie and Pat made a comment about how rare it is to have a fan club before ever having an at-bat.

TorontoDan - Saturday, May 21 2005 @ 01:33 PM EDT (#117337) #
Oh wow, that's awesome. Between that and the cowbell, I'll have to say it was a major hit.
TorontoDan - Sunday, May 22 2005 @ 01:55 AM EDT (#117389) #
Good game today gentlemen. We made the most of everyone who was there, and we were certainly loud. Couple that with a 7-0 Jays win and I'll call it a good time.
