I thought it was a commanding performance by the boys in white, especially Lilly and Walker. Obviously Wells was terrific, but I would hand my Player of the Game to Lilly, who threw 65 strikes and only 24 balls and, if anything, looked better than last year. The incredible turnaround is a testament both to his willingness to work and to the work of Brad Arnsberg.

I'll be frank - Brad Arnsberg has made me a believer, and I was wrong to criticize his appointment. It's impossible to miss the difference in some of the pitchers from last year to this. Now everyone's acting like Roy Halladay up there.

Tonight was the first time Lilly had pitched a scoreless inning since the third inning of his start in New York on May 1st.

I was Ted Lilly's biggest critic last game, but tonight Ted Lilly showed me he's back in the groove. If we have five good to great starters and Hill is going to be this good, well, anything is possible this year.

How great was it to see Hill get a triple after the intentional walk to Adams? Not a bad first game for the rookie.

Wells is 7 for his last 20, with 4 HRs. He seems to be out of his funk now.

Not bad indeed. I'm also glad Wells has finally found his stroke.. for the longest time it seemed like the monkey just would not get off his back..

Here's to hoping the Jays dont put too much pressure on Hill to perform right away. But let's face it, they need everything Hill can offer, now that Koskie is gone for close to 6 weeks.

Plus if Hill is really here to stay, things could be a whole lot different by the time Koskie comes back..

I had Lilly on the bench in my fantasy league. First time this season I've benched him.

Make of that what you will.

I cut him from my team entirely. I rank 4 or 8 in the league, leading in all offensive categories, the bottom of all pitching.

I'm to blame for getting so excited about the first start. Lilly is now back in the groove and I will not try to benefit.

T-Lil had a nice game, but he's not Ted Lilly, All-Star just yet, not after one moderately nice start.

Actually Mick, isn't he always going to be Ted Lilly, All Star?

Just like Mike Williams, All Star will never be anything but that?

Hank...same situation, I finally decided that Lilly should stop ruining my entire week so I sit him, and he does this to me? Blue Jay fan first though, so it's all gravy.

Now the tough decision is to put him back in or leave him out b/c you know what will happen if I put him back in.

Really, shouldn't it be Ted Lilly, All-Star because a silly rule mandates each team send at least one player to the game? Quite frankly, 7-6 with 4.27 ERA and 1.41 WHIP (his numbers at the '04 break) don't really scream "All-Star" to me.

The only thing more tiresome than always referring to Lilly as "Ted Lilly, All Star" is always referring to the silly rule and how Lilly didn't deserve to go.
