Today's photograph is Frank Catalanotto peering into the dugout to read the signs. I've never paid attention to this aspect of a Jays game -- who's relaying the signs to the batter, is it Brantley? Is it Gibbons himself?

While we wait for someone to supply the answer, here's the picture:

This photo of Cat calls out for an unofficial caption contest -- no prize except a No-Prize and the honour and camraderies of your fellow Bauxites.

"Ahhhhhh."

(Sorry, but he looks like he's cutting the cheese...)

They're probably both relaying signs, but only one of them for real. Confuse the enemy, ya know.

I'd say it's most likely he's getting his signs from Butterfield, the 3rd base coach. I'm not sure I've ever seen a hitter turn to look into the dugout for signs. Butter likely gets them from Gibbons, or perhaps Brantley if Gibby's feeling lazy.

As for the quote...perhaps he just got beaned in which case it would have to be "Must look tough...don't rub it!"

The decision to just have Boomhauer shout the signs had some uninteded consequences. The opposition couldn't understand what he was saying, but his players couldn't either.

Wow! The POTD mojo picked up both the F Cat and collaterally, Scott Downs. Named for Hank, you are the maestro.
