I was all right for a while
I could smile for a while

Back on April Fool's Day, some of us went on record in the Roundtable Preview and predicted the Blue Jays 2005 W-L record. How do they have to play between now and the end of the year to make us look... well, clever.

Magpie (79-83): 15-19. I didn't believe in the offense.

Jonny German (81-80): 17-16; Jonny was expecting rain. A rain-out, to be precise.

Dave Till (75-87): 11-23. They better beat that...

Jordan (80-82): 16-18, with a better second half than first half...

Mike Green (79-83): 15-19, splitting the difference...

Rob (86-76): 22-12. Youth, so impetuous, so optimistic...

Gerry (78-84): 14-20. That is all.

Pistol (81-81): 17-17. So far, so... well, not bad.

Leigh (88-74): 24-10. Hey, it looked possible a week ago.

Named for Hank (90-72): 26-8, scrapping for the Wild Card. See previous wisecrack.

Sigh.

Todays' schedule sees Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz all set to start. Kevin Millwood too! Perhaps the 1998 Braves are playing a triple-header.

26-8? Wow, that's not as bad as I thought! It is still do-able!

Magpie... have you been crying?

Stupid question -- wouldn't that be a quadruple-header?

I predicted 82-80, by the way, in my various prediction contests. I didn't contribute a prediction to the roundtable because I was doing... what the heck was I doing? A Devil Rays preview or something?
