I don't think I've enjoyed seeing any player bloom the way Adams has. He overcame a number of skeptics to establish himself as a major-league leadoff hitter in his first full season, and his defence will improve. He's wearing down a bit in September (.200/.229/.267), but look for annual .275/.350/.420 lines going forward. I sure hope he's with the Jays for years to come.

Adams was, for most of his time in the minors, a highly debated player with many people thinking that he'd never have the pop necessary to be more than a utility player. However, I think Jordan just about nailed his evaluation of Adams in his 2003 NH Ravens prospect review, including this near dead on comment in 2003.

Most young players suffer a certain “stat devaluation” as they rise through the minors: 25 homers at AA often become 20 at AAA and maybe 15 in the majors; a 2.57 ERA in AA rises to 3.22 in AAA and into the low 4.00s, often, in the majors. But Adams looks like a guy who’s going to post pretty much the same basic numbers – .280/.360/(and soon enough).430 – at every level.

League	G	AB	AVG	OBP	SLG OPS
AL	143	490	0.267	0.335	0.418 0.753
AAA	122	483	0.288	0.351	0.408 0.759
AA	65	271	0.277	0.349	0.387 0.736
A	135	518	0.282	0.383	0.382 0.765
And I think most people would think a .280/.360/.430 line for Adams next year is reasonable if you think his slow start this year was an adjustment to the league.
