Alomar: Mebion Glyndwr holds off nine would-be usurpers.
Barfield: Magic 9, 1-Tool Wonders and Team Junior Felix play mean.
Carter: Opponents impotent against Sexy Underpants.

ALOMAR DIVISION:

My Austin Senators held #1 Mebion Glyndwr to 4.5 wins, momentarily slowing MB’s attempt to lap the division. The intrigue comes from places two through ten, where a mere 3.5 games separate nine teams. It’s a dual marquee matchup among these teams, as the #4 Chatsworth Halos faces the slumping #9 Toronto Walrus, and #6 Edmonton Decepticons challenge #7 AGF. Elsewhere, the Eastern Shore Birds managed their first non-losing week of the season.

BARFIELD DIVISION:

Magic 9 rebounded from his only losing week of the season by pounding the Vancouver Cyphers 10-0-2. Not to be outdone, the 1-Tool Wonders stuck eleven losses on the poor Pistol Nine, who find themselves languishing on the division floor. Team Junior Felix also won eleven games and have vaulted to fifth place after beginning the season with four losing weeks. They take on the #4 Pohnpei Papayas in this week’s marquee matchup.

CARTER DIVISION:

Welcome back, Carter, where the world is ruled by Sexy Underpants. The ‘Pants have won at least eight games each week thus far and are already 44 games over .500. Both the Wedding Singers and Blocked Youngsters have done their best to keep up with eleven-win efforts last week. The marquee matchup belongs to #6 Chico’s Bail Bonds and #10 Big Game Hunters, both part of a tight collection of teams hovering around the edge of the Championship Bracket.

Because there is nothing as interesting as someone else's fantasy team, I'll kick off the weekly roundups.

The Decepticons earned their most decisive victory of the season with a 9-3 pounding of Ghost Man on Third.  So decisive was the Sunday morning lead that my hitters decided to kill my ratios by not hitting on the Sabbath.  The Decepticons must have appeased the baseball gods as they swept all hitting categories, though Sunday's festivities made most categories too close for comfort.  On the pitching ledger, the cowardly manager's decisions to sit Taylor Buchholz and Tom Glavine backfired as their masterful performances would have won two further categories.  Which team has the most cowardly manager in the BBFL?  The DECEPTICONS!

Bonds: Brian Giles.  Each week Giles decides to get on base or to swing for the fences.  He never does both.  This was a slugging week with 10 rbis.  This week it's probably back to empty OBP from Giles

Neifi: Jeff Conine.  The Royals mismanagement of Decepticon Justin Huber meant that Jeff Conine once again manned first for the Decepticons.  Now Huber is sent down by the Royals and waived by the Decepticons.  The pickup of Mark Sweeney was supposed to mean Conine to the bench.  However the injury to this season's surprise saviour Brian McCann means Jeff Conine is back in the lineup and will earn another Neifi this week.

Pedro: At the beginning of the year, no one wanted Freddy Garcia in any trade.  Who's laughing now?  Hah.  That would be me.  I'm laughing now.  Ozzie Guillen too I suppose.  And Freddy himself is probably chuckling a bit too.  2 wins, over 14 innings, with a 1.84 era.  Nice.

Lima: Taylor Buchholz.  There was a reason I sat him on Sunday.  He had a 24 era for the week based on 3 innings pitched Tuesday.  Of course, he throws a complete game shutout on Sunday while riding Decepticon pine.

Elsewhere, the Eastern Shore Birds managed their first non-losing week of the season. ... and we're only 30 games out of first, baby. The Bad News Birds are on the move!!

Unfortunately, the Birds' pitching jinx struck top-prospect Hayden Penn before he ever threw a pitch. Anyone know how long a blown appendix will keep young Penn out of action?
