The Jays top two relievers coughed up the lead last night, not Janssen and Accardo but Daryl Harang and Seth Overbey, both of whom lost their zero ERA's.  Syracuse had a nice "come back from the dead" win as Russ Adams had four hits and Lansing had an easy win as Yuber Rodriguez stayed red-hot.

Syracuse 10  Pawtucket 7

Pawtucket jumped out to a 7-2 lead after four innings and it looked like they would win their third in a row from the Chiefs, but the good guys scored two runs in the fifth, singles in the seventh and eighth and four in the ninth to grab the win.  Ty Taubenheim started and gave up all seven runs, on seven hits, in 3.2 innings.  Oddly six of his eight outs were via strikeout.  Justin James pitched 2.2 shutout innings as did Brian Wolfe who got the win.

Russ Adams and Kevin Barker homered in the first inning to get Syracuse on the board.  Adams tripled to drive in two runs in the fifth.  Wayne Lydon, Adams and Howie Clark singled in the seventh to generate another run and John-Ford Griffin homered in the eighth bringing us to the ninth with Syracuse down 7-6.  Rey Olmedo struckout to start the inning but then Lydon doubled, Adams had an RBI single to tie the game, and Clark had another single to put two men on.  Barker grounded out but then Chad Mottola hit a three run home run to provide the winning margin.

Russ Adams was 4-5 with two runs and four RBI's and his batting average is now .229.  Wayne Lydon had three hits.

New Hampshire 2  Binghamton 6

David Purcey started and was better than his four runs allowed in six innings looks.  Purcey gave up a lead-off home run in the first inning but then shutout Binghamton until the sixth.  In those five innings Purcey held Binghamton to three hits after the home run and he walked no-one on the day.  But in the sixth Purcey allowed three straight doubles that tunred into three runs.  Purcey's line was 6 8 4 4 0 7.  New Hampshire scored their two runs in the third, Dustin Majewski walked, Robinzon Diaz had an RBI double and Rob Cosby an RBI single.  Cosby was the only Fisher Cat with two hits.  Connor Falkenbach was promoted to New Hampshire and gave up two runs in the eighth inning.

St. Lucie 3  Dunedin 2

This was a tight game, Cory Patton hit a home run to give Dunedin a 1-0 lead in the fourth.  Brandon Magee was pitching well and had a shutout on two hits through five but gave up the tying run on two hits and two walks in the sixth.  Magee went six and gave up just one run on four hits and four walks.  Dunedin took the lead again in the sixth, Patton walked and later scored on a ground-out.  Daryl Harang brought his zero ERA to the mound in the eighth and gave up a lead off single, followed by a sac bunt and a groundout to put the runner on third with two outs.  Rather than let Harang finish the inning Omar Malave called on Seth Overbey to get the final out but the hitter doubled to tie the game and put Harang's ERA at 0.60.  In the bottom of the ninth Overbey gave up a lead-off double, a walk, a one-out single to load the bases and a sac fly.  Dunedin's last eleven hitters were retired in order.

Great Lakes 3  Lansing 10

Lansing scored early and often in this game, three runs in the first inning with back to back doubles from Yuber Rodriguez and Joey Metropoulos being the big blows.  Yuber doubled again in the third, as did Matt Lane, as Lansing tacked on three more runs.  Yuber singled in the fourth as Lansing scored two more runs on three singles and two walks.  Yuber finished 4-4 with three doubles and a walk, and four runs scored.  Matt Lane had three hits.  Reidier Gonzalez pitched six innings and gave up one run on seven hits.

3 star selection

3rd star - Chad Mottola
2nd star - Yuber Rodriguez
1st star - Russ Adams

Yuber is some kind of hot, hitting .570 over his past six games (16 hits), including 6 doubles and 3 home runs.

Hopefully, Adams has rediscovered his hitting stroke.  He has a 15:22 K:BB ratio.  While hitting only .229, he has kept a semi-reasonable OBP of .331.

Joey Metropoulos came out of the Lansing game early.
