Five of eight scheduled games were rained out.  Both Florida teams had doubleheaders scheduled after rainouts on Monday but a second day of rain gave them a second day off.  The three affiliates who did play all won.  Las Vegas wielded the lumber for 16 hits, and benefitted from good middle relief as did New Hampshire.  Lance Durham had a big night for Auburn.

Reno 6  Las Vegas 12

This was a typical PCL game, 18 runs and 29 hits between both teams.  Davis Romero gave up eleven of those hits, and four runs, in 4.1 innings.  Sean Stidfole releived Romero and pitched 2.2 perfect innings to get the win.  The 51's scored their 12 runs without a home run, but they did record 9 doubles.  Randy Ruiz had three doubles and 3 RBI's.  Dave Delucci also had three hits, two doubles, and 3 RBI's.  Aaron Mathews and Howie Clark also had three hits each.

New Hampshire 5  Binghamton 3

New Hampshire scored four runs in the fifth, Darin Mastroianni got it started with a walk and with one out the Fisher Cat hitters put together four straight hits with a Brian Dopirak two RBI double the last hit.  New Hampshire added an insurance run in the ninth.

Also... no idea who the writer is but he LOVES Marc Rzepczynski.  Basically says he's Brandon Webb 2.0 (with a chance to be better) with his K/9 and GB rate he's put up this year.

"...has quick stroke...ball jumps off his bat with impressive power...reservations about Nesi's already thick body and defense, with some predicting a move to first base. His arm is below-average to average...receiving skills also need work, but his power bat is his calling card. The Blue Jays have been linked to Nesi for months for $750,000."

whats going on in lansing? the last couple of years, the organization has sent up there some pretty decent hitters. it seems like they get worse instead of better as the season goes on. don't want to hear  "they're a young team", "hitting the wall" or any of that crap. hitters are hitters, but they can't hit in lansing. must be the water....................

Snider is in the lineup tonight in LV.  He's batting 7th and is the DH.

Also it's nice to see that the Jays made a splash in the Int'l market.  Looks like the kid we added is comparable to a 2nd round talent in the draft, according to the slot system.

it seems like they get worse instead of better as the season goes on.

In a lot of cases it's the hitters' first year of full-length professional baseball. They're fatigued because they simply aren't used to playing anywhere near that numbers of games in a season.

More on Nesi from BP live blog

Another release, this time from the Jays, announcing the signing of Venezuelan catcher Santiago Nessy, the bonus is unclear but is expected to be in the same range as Wilfredo Solano’s: mid-six figures with a shot for up to $750,000. Nessy is big-bodied, offensive-oriented catcher that may move to first, but has a chance to stick behind the plate and swings a mean stick.
