Here is the second batch of photos of the Lansing Lugnuts in action May 9.

Holy Mackinaw!  A Joe Bowen sighting.  He crouches behind the plate in the Lugnuts bullpen.

Lefty Sam Strickland warms in the bullpen as he prepares to enter the game for the start of the seventh inning.  He was nicked for two unearned runs in his three inning appearance by giving up three hits.  He struck out a batter and did not walk anyone.  Seven of his eight outs in play were in the air.  I believe Strickland was around the 85-89 MPH range with his fastball but the radar gun at Cooley Law Stadium was not working properly at times.  Strickland was the third and final pitcher for the Lugnuts.  Danny Barnes retired the only hitter he faced to end the sixth inning in relief of Daniel Webb.  Unfortunately, my camera battery died at that point so I did not get any shots of Barnes in action.

Lugnuts pitching coach and former Jays hurler Vince Horsman supervises Strickland in the bullpen.  The Halifax lefty pitched four shutout innings for the Jays in 1991.

Balbino Fuenmayor had his ups and downs in this game.  He singled and scored a run in the fifth but hit a soul-crushing double play to kill a Lugnuts rally in the sixth.  He was 2-for-4 on the night with an RBI double.  In the field, he threw one away at third base after making a nice play to field the ball on a short hop.  It was basically an Edwin Encarnacion special.

Markus Brisker had trouble in right field with a fly ball in the seventh that seemed to hang up forever.  He appeared to overrun the ball but was not charged with an error as the batter was credited with a triple.  Brisker was 1-for-5 at the plate.

Jake Marisnick leads off the eighth inning for the Lugnuts.

Marisnick stands at second base after doubling to center field.  Have I mentioned Marisnick can motor already?  He also had an infield single to finish 2-for-5 on the night.  If you want to see an athlete in action, Marisnick is it.

K.C. Hobson takes off his batting helmet and heads back to the dugout after striking out in the eighth inning.  Hobson doubled and scored in the sixth in a 1-for-5 performance at the plate.

Michael Crouse prepares to hit in the eighth inning.  He drove in a run in the sixth with an RBI single but was called out on strikes in this at-bat.

A smiling Marcus Knecht stands at first base after driving home Marisnick in the eighth inning.  Knecht was 4-for-4 with a home run and three singles while scoring twice and driving in two runs.  Knecht hit the ball hard three of the four times he was at the plate.  However, his efforts were not enough as Lansing lost to Lake County 9-5.
