So I wore my Cleveland Indians necktie to work today. Think it choked a little bit?

Ervin "Not Johan" Santana no-hit the Tribe, 3-1 today. Your thoughts, comments, observations?

Colby Rasmus once no-hit the Cleveland Indians, but gave up pitching so he could play every day.

Matt Young once no-hit the Cleveland Indians, but he lost the game anyway. (That was the last time Cleveland was no-hit.)

With a gem yesterday (5 innings, 11 hits, 4 runs and 3 earned), John Lackey moved to 9-8 with a 6.20 ERA.  I wonder who is the last pitcher to finish above .500 with an ERA over 6.  There probably was somebody in 2000.

Livan Hernandez pulled it off in 2008 - he went 13-11 with a 6.05 ERA.

Dave Mlicki managed to go 11-11 with a 6.17 ERA in 2001.

A couple others came close - Mark Hendrickson went 11-8 with a 5.90 ERA, and Shawn Estes went 15-8 with a 5.84 ERA, though the latter was done in Colorado.

My first thought at this question was "gotta be Darren Oliver."

He had three separate seasons (1998, 2000-01) in the TEX rotation with an ERA above 6 -- including 7.42 in 2000, when he was only 2-9.

In 2001, he did post a sparkling 11-11/6.02 mark!

Thanks, gentlemen.  There should be some kind of award for the pitcher who finishes with a W/L over .500 and the highest ERA.

Sad news about Hideki Irabu today.
