The Bluefield Blue Jays (Appalachian League) players saw their 2011 season come to an end after losing 4-1 to Johnson City on Sunday.

Salt Lake 10 Las Vegas 3

Chad Gaudin was roughed up for seven runs in 5.0 innings. He allowed 10 hits and three walks with just two strikeouts. The best pitching performance came from Scott Richmond who went one inning, did not allow a hit and struck out two. Manny Mayorson had three hits and also scored a run. Jayson Nix was 2-for-4 with a double. Adeiny Hechavarria had one hit with a walk and a strikeout.

New Hampshire 7 Portland 0

Drew Hutchison allowed just one run in five innings. He did not walk a batter and he struck out eight. Wes Etheridge worked two scoreless innings. Rey Gonzalez and Bobby Korecky also pitched scoreless innings. Callix Crabbe, Michael McDade, and Mark Sobolewski each had two hits. Three players also hit home runs: McDade, Sobolewski and Danny Perales. A day after hitting two bombs, John Tolisano went 0-for-4 with a K.

Clearwater 5 Dunedin 4

Andrew Liebel allowed seven hits in five innings - but just two players crossed the plate. Frank Gailey, Dan Mozingo, and Aaron Loup pitched scoreless innings to keep the lead. Unfortunately, Matt Daly gave up three runs in the ninth and took the loss. Jon Talley slammed his 20th home run of the season and had two hits. Brad Glenn also went deep. Rajai Davis was 1-for-2 and played centerfield for half the game. Ivan Contreras went 1-for-3 with a walk.

Lansing 5 Dayton 4

Shawn Griffith received the spot start and did not allow a run in three innings. He struck out six and did not walk a batter. Dayton Marze went two innings and gave up one unearned run. Danny Webb was touched up for two runs in two innings. Dustin Antolin and Danny Barnes then held the fort for the win. Michael Crouse went 1-for-2 and hit his 14th homer. Jack Murphy also went deep. Pete Mooney went 1-for-3 with a double and two walks. Marcus Knecht went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

Johnson City 4 Bluefield 1

Deivy Estrada pitched well and allowed just two runs (one earned) in five innings. He gave up four hits, one walk and struck out five. Jeremy Gabryszwski gave up two runs in 2.2 innings. Misaul Diaz did not allow a run in 1.1 innings of work. Leo Hernandez was the only hitter to get a hit. He also drove in the lone run. Danny Arcila and Gustavo Pierre struck out a combined six times at the top of the order.

Deck Mcguire has been activated and pitched 2 shutout innings in relief for the Fisher Cats. 1H, 0 BB, 3 K 

Anthony Gose went 3/4 with a double and his 16th HR, walked, struck out and stole his 70th base.

What,s with Gose and his HR/Double stats,almost one for one,can,t this guy turn a single into a double?.
