Tonight was the long awaited debut of Jays Pitcher Marcus Stroman, and he did not disappoint in his first outing of the year.  As well, today was a good day for the farm going 4-0.

Buffalo 11 - Charlotte 6

The Bisons were swing hot bats again versus former Jays pitchers in Zach Stewart and David Purcey.  Jim Negrych, and Moises Sierra had 3 hits, Luiz Jimenez, Josh Thole and Ryan Langerhans had 2 hits to help the Bisons Offense that put up 11 runs.

Todd Redmon was not sharp in his 2013 debut giving up 5 earned runs over 3.1 innings pitched.  John Stilson in his first outing in Buffalo, since being promoted from New Hampshire pitched well with 2 innings with 3 strikeouts.

New Hampshire 7 - New Britain 4

Marcus Stroman was fantastic in his 2013 debut going 5 innings(89 pitches) of 4 hit ball with 0 earned runs, 1 walk, and 6 strikeouts.  Matt Wright gave up 3 earned runs over an inning and two thirds.

Brad Glenn, Kevin Nolan and Ricardo Nanita each had a home run help powering the Fisher Cats offense which put up 11 hits, and 7 runs.

Dunedin 3 - Brevard County 1

Dunedin starter Scott Copeland was fantastic tonight going 8 innings of 3 hit ball, with 1 earned run, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.

Dunedin's offense had 4 runs tonight on 3 hits, with RBI's from Jon Talley, Markus Knecht and KC Hobson.

Lansing 7 - Great Lakes 3

Lansing hit well across the board tonight, including 3 hits from Dwight Smith, and Gustavo Pierre.  Carlos Ramirez and Balbino Fuenmayor had 2 rbi's in today's game.

Javier Avendano started for Lansing today and was ok, going 5 innings giving up 7 hits and 2 earned runs.  Efran Nieves, Wil Browning, and Ian Kadish pitched well in relief to hold onto the Lugnut lead.

Three Stars
3-Brad Glenn
2-Scott Copeland
1-Marcus Stroman

Stroman is likely to be inning and pitch limited for the next two-three years. It will not, however, prevent him from getting the Callup if necessary. I don't know Toronto's plans for him so I can't speculate on when he's called up.

According to The Canadian Press, Anthony Gose has been recalled by the Blue Jays.

I am getting pretty dang frustrated.

gose has no chance of being an offensive upgrade over any of our of v. rhp or lhp at the moment, and we have boni as defensive cover for the of already.

And gose is ice cold at the moment and clearly needs more time in aaa, especially v. lhp.

even worse, storey deserved to stay up more than lincoln or rogers..

Meanwhile we had a chance to call up some red hot hitters that actually had a chance to be shortterm upgrades - negrych at 2b, thole at c, and sierra as a rh bench power bat.

While I might agree with some of your points, calling Boni a defensive outfield cover just doesn't seem right to me, unless the tarp would also be considered cover.

Bonifacio has been more than fine defensively in the OF (this year and career). People are still holding a grudge for that uncatchable game winning drive that went past him in his first appearance in cf.

And unless rasmus is injured, who cares anyways? Gose shouldn't be playing ahead of rasmus in any mstchup at the moment anyways.

the only possible benefit I can see for this is giving Mottola a couple of weeks to work with Gose in the cage. AA has been quoted as saying he expects McGowan to be ready when he's eligible to come off the 60 so this is maybe only a 10 day thing. It could easily be argued that's a heck of a way to waste a roster space though.

Better use than a 9th reliever though.

why do people keep saying "9th reliever"?

Janssen
Oliver
Delabar
Loup
Cecil
Rogers
Lincoln

that's 7 relievers. who am I missing?

Dickey
Morrow
Buehrle
Jenkins
Ortiz

Jenkins is in our rotation right now, not our bullpen. Johnson and Happ and Romero are out.

Aaron Sanchez was pulled early from his last start due to low velocity. Now he has been placed on the DL.

Arm troubles for Sanchez?  Hopefully minor ones.

Some good news from the farm.  Josh Johnson threw 3 innings for Dunedin, allowing one run with no walks and five strikeouts.  Joel Carreno is now in the closer role for New Hampshire and struck out all 5 batters he faced.

Because of the rainout, Jenkins isn't needed in the rotation for a couple of turns. So he has moved to the bullpen. Thus the decision to brink up another bat.

"the only possible benefit I can see for this is giving Mottola a couple of weeks to work with Gose in the cage."

There's a pretty obvious other benefit - the Jays just added their best defensive outfielder and base runner to the roster.

Jenkins is in our rotation right now, not our bullpen.

The Blue Jays lineup doesn't agree with that statement.
