Winners all round to start the season. Marcus Stroman, Aaron Sanchez and Matt Boyd all pitched well. Anthony Gose, Matt Tuiasosopo, Kenny Wilson, Ryan Schimpf, Kevin Nolan, AJ Jimenez, Dwight Smith and KC Hobson all had multi hit games.

Lansing played in the cross town showdown against Michigan State, details to come later.

Rochester 3 Buffalo 6

The Bisons jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and cruised from there to a comfortable win. The only worry was in the eighth when John Stilson couldn't find the strike zone for a while. Marcus Stroman, Anthony Gose, Liam Hendricks had good days.

Gose 2-4, DB, BB, K
Pillar 0-5, no strikeouts. Pillar was in RF mode, two G4's, two F9's and a G3
Tuiasosopo 3-4
Dan Johnson 4 walks
Stroman 4IP, 4H, 1BB, 4K, 2R
Hendricks 2 perfect IP
Stilson .2IP, 1H, 2BB, 1R
Wagner, last four outs, 3 via K

New Hampshire 6 Trenton 0

Aaron Sanchez dominated Trenton. He went five innings allowing just one hit and recording five K's. Casey Lawrence and Scott Gracey each pitched two innings of one hit ball.

The Fisher Cats scored four runs in the second. Kevin Nolan singled in Ryan Schimpf for the first run and then with the bases loaded Kenny Wilson tripled to drive in three. Kenny Wilson scored the fifth run on a ground out. In the ninth Jon Berti tripled and was driven in by AJ Jimenez. Wilson, Jimenez, Schimpf and Nolan each had two hits.

Clearwater 0 Dunedin 7

Dunedin used ten hits to score their seven runs. Dwight Smith had four hits, KC Hobson had two and three RBI's. But the story of this game was Matt Boyd who pitched seven shutout innings, with five hits and five K's. According to Twitter Boyd's Fb was sitting 89-91 but with lots of movement.

Michigan State 2 Lansing 3

This was not an official game so there is no milb information. I assume Jesse will post a game story at some point. We know Tom Robson started and gave up a run in 3 innings. He was followed by Phil Kish, Jesus Tinoco, Mark Biggs, Adaric Kelly and Garrett Pickens. Yeyfry Del Rosario and Francisco Gracesqui finished out the ninth. More to come I assume.

Three Stars

1st Star: Matt Boyd

2nd Star: Aaron Sanchez

3rd Star: Dwight Smith

HI Gerry,

I watched the Lansing game on televsion last night.  Here were some of the things of note.  I tried to paste Jesse's game recap into the thread, but I was unsuccessful.

As stated, Robson started and struck out five of the first seven hitters he faced.  He did allow an RBI single in the third.

The Lugnuts scored twice in the bottom of the second.  Santiago Nessy had an RBI single and Derrick Loveless reached on an error that allowed Justin Atkinson to touch the plate.  There was another MSU error in the sixth that led to another unearned run that scored on a sac fly by Seth Conner.  Thankfully, the defense from MSU was very shaky, or the outcome may have been different.

From what I saw of Robson, he looks really good and you have to love a guy that takes the mound without sleeves on an extremely cold night with mist floating in the air.    He seemed to work off the two seamer quite a bit and jammed it on the hands of alot of MSU hitters.

Also, I'm excited at the future prospects of seeing Jesus Tinoco.  He seemed to throw the ball quite well and dropped a really impressive curve ball on and MSU hitter that froze him and struck him out.

Hope that little recap helps.

Keith Law was at the New Hampshire game last night and reported via Twitter that Sanchez was sitting 94-96 throughout his start and showed a plus slider.

Just my two cents on the Lugnut game with Michigan State. Not much to say about the hitting. Nay was patient. Lugo wasn't. Dean had the hardest hit ball - a double to right-centre. The runs they scored were more a result of MSU errors than actually hard hit balls. The colour guy was Cal Eldred for those who remember him. He talked a lot about Derek Loveless who apparently comes from the same town as Eldred in Iowa. He described Loveless as more an athlete than baseball player when coming out of high school. They weren't showing the radar gun on the telecast so I have no idea how hard anyone was actually throwing. Robson looked very polished. Running fastball with a good curve and change. It looked like he already has good fastball control and he just needs to tighten up his off-speed stuff and I think he can come very quickly. Tinoco is big guy with excellent stuff and is definitely someone to watch. Del Rosario is also a tall guy but with a thinner build. He threw one wicked slider that drew oohs from the crowd and the announcing team but had a hard time repeating it. Both him and Tinoco seemed to throw harder than Robson but Robson was more of a "pitcher". Adaric Kelly is a small guy who seemed to throw hard as well with a decent change-up. Biggs really had trouble throwing strikes and was the least impressive of the prospects at least on this night.

Thanks MatO.  Two game reports on an exhibition game is pretty impressive.

Good to hear about Robson.

I believe both Del Rosario & Tinoco were add ons for this game. But I am not sure. But they sound promising.

7 K's in 4 innings for Tirado with  Lansing in 8-2 victory. 2 hits each for DJ Davis and Mitch Nay. Taylor Cole had a good start as well for Dunedin in extra inning loss.
