After spending the past few years pitching in Asia, Radames Liz made his 2014 debut for the Blue Jays and was solid in his debut.  The farm was 1-3 on Sunday, with the only win coming in a 1-0 victory for New Hampshire.

Buffalo 2 – Louisville 5

The Bisons faced a rehabbing Mat Latos and weren’t able to muster much offensive off him and the Louisville bullpen.  Brad Glenn had 2 hits, while Ryan Goins and Jack Murphy each had a double.

Marcus Stroman was given the start, and he gave up had a line of 4ip, 5h, 4er, 1bb, 5k.  John Stilson followed with two scoreless innings, and Ryan Tepera gave up one earned run over 3 innings.

New Hampshire 1 – Portland 0

Radames Liz made his Blue Jays debut, and threw his first official pitch in North American baseball since 2010.  Radhames threw 3 scoreless innings, which was followed by 5 scoreless innings from Richard Bleier, and a clean 9th by Randy Boone getting his second save of the season.

The Fisher-Cats scored their only run when Matt Newman doubled to start an inning, and was driven in later that inning on a Kenny Wilson single.

Lakeland 6 – Dunedin 0

Jesse Hernandez had a start to forget as he gave up 13 hits and 6 runs (5 earned) over 4.1 innings.

The Dunedin bats only had two hits, a single from Dwight Smight, and Markus Knecht.

Lansing 6 – South Bend 7

Lansing unfortunately lost a close game that included a disappointing start from Jeremy Gabryszwski, who had a line of 5ip, 9h, 5er, 1bb, 2k.

The Lugnuts offense had a strong game in which they had 11 hits, and 3 walks, which amounted to 6 runs.  Everyone in the Lugnuts lineup beside Chaz Frank had a hit, and Jorge Saez had 2 hits, with 3 runs scored.

Three Stars

1.  Richard Bleier

2.  Jorge Saez

3.  Marcus Stroman

There must be 50 ways to leave Dunedin...

LIz could be a real sleeper who might contribute to the Jays later in the season......guy has a major league arm......and appears to have solved his control problems in Korea....

Syndergaard to the DL with a "mild" flexor pronator sprain in his right elbow, per ESPN.

I hope that strain isn't a precursor to Tommy John surgery. He may no longer be a Blue Jay but Noah is still one of my favourite prospects around.

Reports are that AJ Jimenez has been promoted to Buffalo.

Jimenez is hitting .223/.275/.340 in New Hampshire.  It's a curious promotion decision.

AJ doesn't deserve it, but at 24 he has to be in AAA just to see if we have anything there at all.

It seems pretty clear at this point that his upside is defensive backup c, which is too bad.

His saving grace might be that at least he might be able to hit lefties. .843ops this year vs. Lhp, .763 since 2011.

D.J. Davis singled and was caught stealing early on for the Lugnuts.  Davis is now 5-10 stealing bases and has struck out 70 times in 44 games.  He'll be turning 20 in July, but he evidently has a lot of work to do.

Deck McGuire makes his first triple A start tonight.

Perhaps there will be a chain reaction of catching promotions....I would certainly expect Derrick Chung to NH with either Nessy or Saez moving up to Dunedin. It also seems time to move Justin Atkinson to Dunedin from Lansing with possibly Jorge Flores to NH.....Dunedin relievers Arik Sikula and Chad Girodo should join the woeful NH pen soon , probably after Dunedin clinches the 1st half title......

Ya might be promotion season already.

Would be nice to see norris moved up to AA in mcguire's spot.

Too bad reeves couldn't carry over his promise from last year but i agree that Nessy might deserve a promotion.....for the first time ever.

Strange with Jimenez.  Since his 4 hit game on May 11th he has going 3 for 37 with a 236 OPS (bad for an Avg let alone an OPS).  Just 1 hit in his last 13 PA so he wasn't exactly 'getting hot' either.

Dalton Pompey to NH seems like another likely move just waiting for the right time to happen.
