Blue Jays affiliates were 2-2 on Sunday, four days before the 2014 draft begins.  Buffalo lost the game, and 3 pitchers to injuries in Ricky Romero, Rob Rasmussen, and Neil Wagner.  New Hampshire won in 12 innings, Dunedin lost in 12 innings. Lansing won 7-4, despite being down 4-0 at one point.

Syracuse 8 – Buffalo 5

Sunday was an unfortunate game for Buffalo; they gave up a large lead in the 9th inning leading to a loss.  As well, three pitchers got injured in Ricky Romero, Rob Rasmussen, and Neil Wagner.

The only bright spot was Dan Johnson, who hit his team leading 10th HR while driving in 3 runs.

New Hampshire 2 – Altoona 1 (12 Innings)

New Hampshire won a 12 inning game thanks to Melky Mesa who drove home Jonathan Jones in the top of the 12th inning.

The Fisher Cats pitching was solid throughout the game with Austin Bibens-Dirkx starting the game pitching 5 scoreless innings.  The rest of the game included appearances from Tyler Ybarra, Arik Sikula, Dustin Antolin, Scott Copleand, and Randy Boone.

Dunedin 3 – Jupiter 4 (12 Innings)

Matt Boyd returned to Dunedin, and was brilliant once again with a line of 5.2IP 4H 1ER 1BB 9SO.

The Dunedin offense managed to scatter 8 hits over 12 innings, but Dalton Pompey had a decent game going 1-4, with a double, walk, and 2 runs scored.

Lansing 7 – Dayton 3

Dawel Lugo continued to be a surprise raising his average to 287, as he was 2-5 with a double, while driving in 3 runs.  Derick Loveless was 2-4, with 2 RBI, and Chaz Frank was 2-3, with 3 runs scored.

Alberto Tirado continued to have problems finding the strike zone, as he pitched 4 innings, giving up 6 hits, 4 walks, and 1 strikeout which lead to 3 earned runs.

Three Stars

1.  Matt Boyd

2.  Dan Johnson

3.  Chaz Frank

So nice to see lugo raking again. Noticed they moved him up into the 3 hole as well, which is pretty impressive for the youngest player on a team with plenty of hitting prospects.

Don't really get why boyd is back down in dunedin. He showed again he's got nothing to learn there, which is no surprise at ag 23. Sure his era was awful in AA but his peripherals suggested he wasn't pitching all that badly.

With Boyd there might have been ego issues too - he was getting pounded and even if the peripherals are there he still was giving up runs like mad.  Best to ensure he doesn't get too down on himself with a few weeks in A+, then return him to AA and hopefully his luck shifts and then he can keep his confidence.
