The Vancouver Canadians are one win away from the Northwest League championship.

Brandon Polizzi and the rally skunk need one more win.

The C's managed to defeat the Eugene Emeralds 2-1 in Game 3 at Nat Bailey Stadium despite getting only three hits, the same total during their Game 2 loss in Eugene. Brock Lundquist snapped a 1-1 tie with a home run to right in the fourth inning. Kacy Clemens had an RBI groundout that scored Chavez Young, also in the fourth.

Nate Pearson had alternated bad innings with good innings over four frames but only gave up one run. The bullpen trio of Graham Spraker, Travis Bergen and William Ouellette shut out the Em's over the last five frames.

Thanks Niall for the write up. I did not know that G Spraker could throw 98 mph. Wow !!

I never heard of him so I looked him up. He was selected in the 31st round of last years draft. He pitched 33 innings with 20 hits against, 39 strikeouts and just 6 walks, whip of 0.78 and opponents batted .168 against him. He has good size ( 6ft3, 200 lbs.) so he might be someone to keep an eye on, even if he has only pitched as a reliever.

Anyone know if this is going to be televised at all?

Spraker signed for a $1,000 bonus.  A 22 year old in Bluefield is going to put up huge numbers, Spraker needs a couple more years of success before becoming a person of interest IMO.  Than again, I've never seen him pitch.

The Canadians triumphed! Excellent pitching from Dillon, Logue, and Bouchey, combining for 14 Ks over the first eight innings. Logue gave up a solo home run (which I missed, having gone to grab burgers for my fiancée and I), but otherwise they gave up little hard contact.

In the sixth, the Jays managed to get two runs with a walk, a groundball single, a bobbled groundout, and another groundball single through the right side by Warmoth. Those were their only hits all game.

In the ninth, Orlando Pascual came in and looked great, getting a strikeout and then Chavez Young made a great catch on a weak fly ball in foul ground. Everyone was ready for triumph - and they brought in William Ouellette to finish things off, which he did, freezing the final batter to secure the Championship.

Congratulations to the 2017 Vancouver Canadians, Northwest League Champions!
