Lansing play a day game today. Samad Taylor just started the game with a triple.

The Bisons' game underway as well.

Y Diaz walked the tight rope in the bottom of the 5th. He got out of it.

Watching the Bisons, Teoscar hit a 2 run shot to left on what looked like an inside curve ball. Rowdy has two hard outs, which I feel like happened to him a lot last year.

Deck looks good in two innings so far, he attacks hitters, which if I recall when he was in the Jays system I seem to remember him nibbling at the corners far more.

And as I post that Deck looks good he's getting lit up in the 3rd inning.

Newly acquired Darnel Sweeney, playing 2B, has clubbed a HR in his first AB with Buffalo.

With his ability to play both the infield and the outfield, and his speed and defensive ability, he might be a more logical bench player for the Jays (rather than Hernandez or Ngoepe) if they decide to make changes.

Darnell, not Darnel. Darn it.

I turned on the game right after the 4th run against McGuire. He's looked awful other than that last curveball. Terrific throw from Jansen to pick off Olt at 1st.

Odd pitching strategy in Lansing. Y Diaz is ok after 6 IP 95 pitches thrown. He comes in for the 7th he has given up 6 runs with none out and the pitch count is 110. He is still in there gutting it out.

Oops!!! The pitching change was not announced on gameday. All is good. It is D Jimmenez to start the 7th.

Taylor hit a homer and was hit by a pitch, in addition to his leadoff triple.  He has now reached base in 11 of his first 24 PAs.  That's a nice start with the bat.  On the other hand, he made his 3rd error in 5 games.

The Midwest League transactions column says Dalton Rodriguez has been placed on the 7-day DL.

And Taylor has also failed to make plays that were not called errors. His defense will have to improve dramatically if he is to be considered a prospect. I like the over achieving Cavan Biggio much better even though Ugly will surely point out the age difference. For me , it's more about whether you can play or you can't. I think Biggio can play and will rocket up the prospect rankings along with Patrick Murphy. Not so sure about Taylor but willing to give him time.

The Rodriguez move is just roster manipulation.

Why?  And how is he an overachiever?  Last year was pretty ugly aside from his BB%.  I'm not as high on Taylor as many, but literally everything about him looks better to me than with Biggio.  I haven't seen either play though, so no thoughts on the D.

And I agree with you about Murphy.

China, what's the scoop on Sweeney's D?  I have no idea aside from the stat line and the org soldier profile.  I'd rather see J-Leb get the call if we are talking minor league depth players.

Taylor made 2 errors in the game today, for a total of 4 on the season.

I think the thing with Biggio is that he was aggressively promoted to Dunedin last year, skipping Lansing. He spent most of 2016 with Vancouver and had a few games with Lansing at year end. His Vancouver numbers were good, but not eye popping, and it would have seemed that he was destined for Lansing in 2017. They sent him to Dunedin instead, and I was surprised that he wasn't totally overmatched, although he wasn't great. Again, they made a somewhat aggressive move with him this year, advancing him to AA to start the season. There must be something about him that the organization sees that isn't readily apparent in the stats. He's off to a great start, and I'm starting to think of him as more of a legit prospect than I had previously.

Looks like Diaz is showing them he didn't deserve to be returned to Lansing for a 2nd year - he's given up a grand total of 2 hits in 11 2/3 IP. He won't stay at Lansing very long if he keeps that up.

Defence is clearly an issue for Taylor, but on offence, other than a touch more patience than he showed last year (and he's made a good start this year in that respect), what more do you want from a middle infield prospect that has been and is really young for his level of play? Taylor doesn't have a strong arm but he's plenty athletic. Defensive improvement is certainly possible going forward; as is the possibility that he has plenty of bat to play LF/CF.

This is a wonderful April.

Yes, Taylor looks like a good hitter, and he's very young. I still have him higher than Biggio on my prospect list, but I recently moved Biggio up somewhat.
