The affiliates only played two games on Sunday. Games in Vancouver and Florida were rained out. Buffalo and New Hampshire both had bullpen meltdowns.

Buffalo 1 Scranton 5

New Hampshire 2 Portland 4

Spokane at Vancouver - postponed

Dunedin at Fort Myers - postponed

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

The Bisons used six pitchers to give up five runs to the Yankees. Buffalo hitters had seven hits, Otto Lopez was 3-4 and he had the only extra base hit, a double. In six games since he returned from Toronto Lopez is 10-24. That is much better than the .225 he was hitting before he was called up.

The New Hampshire game was not a well played game. New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a throwing error by the Portland catcher. Chris Bec reached on an error in the fifth and scored on a double by Cam Eden.

In the fifth a hit batter, three walks, and two singles, one of them an infield single let Portland score three runs. Another infield single led to a run for Portland in the eighth.

New Hampshire had six hits, Eden had two, both doubles. Paxton Schultz started and went 3.1 innings, 51 pitches.

Three Stars

Third Star - Pass

Second Star - Cam Edeen

First Star - Otto Lopez

Groshans is cold. He probably should get hot soon. Overall his bb/k and avg are consistently good so if he gets to the majors and that continues he will have a good OBP. I expect him to hit more than 5Hr/season. But maybe he will not be a big Hr hitter. He is still young.

Low power numbers, low speed and a strong arm sums him up. But he can hit so someone will find a spot for him.

I just checked the FCL. Our team is 11-9. JC Masson seems very exciting. Last year in the FCL he hit well but K'd 50%. This year .405 Avg and bb/k at 10 each but only 37 ABs. Many others are doing well. SS M Beltre 66 ABs and SS L Garcia 62 ABs.
