Notes

Buffalo fell to Toledo 7-5 on Wednesday night despite scoring five runs in the last three innings. 1 in the seventh, two in the eight, and two in the ninth were not enough for the Bisons who were down 5-0 at the end of five.

The Vancouver Canadians rallied from a 5-3 deficit against the Everett Aquasox scoring five runs in the ninth inning to even their six-game set with the Aquasox at 1-1. It was Garrett Spain with a monster night going four for five at the plate with 6 RBI”s. He also had 11 total bases and now has 23 RBIs on the year.

The Dunedin Blue Jays held the Bradenton Marauders to one run and four hits in a 3-1 victory on Wednesday night. Nicolas Deschamps went o1/3, 1HR, 1 run, and 1RBI. Toronto Blue Jays signed free agent C Nicolas Deschamps to a minor league contract back in 2021.

New Hampshire and Harrisburg was postponed due to poor air quality in and around the state of Pennsylvania as a result of wildfires in Canada.

Garrett Spain is another one of these late draft picks (15th round in 2021), off the prospect lists, who is having a nice run in Vancouver.

I understand he is pretty good defensively, although mostly plays RF.

Hitting 345/383/678 for the year. 407/436/831 in the last month (16 games).

His walk % is a bit of a concern (5%) but was 12% last year, and his K% is 25%.

He is 22 yrs old and might get a bump to AA if he keeps hitting.

Addison Barger had three at-bats for the FCL Jays today.

Great to see Barger starting his rehab.

Been trying to find any information on Barriera's IL stint this past week, but to no avail. His statcast data has been pretty uniform across all starts, so I am hoping if it was something more serious we'd have heard by now.

BA has published its Mock Draft 3.0. Here is their current prediction for the Jays:

20. Blue Jays — Nolan Schanuel, 1B, Florida Atlantic

Schanuel finished the season with a ridiculous .444/.612/.864 slash line, with 19 home runs, 18 doubles, a 24.6% walk rate and a 4.4% strikeout rate. He has a special combination of pure bat-to-ball skills, pitch recognition and solid power. He was one of the best hitters in the country all season and should be an appealing option for a number of teams.

Schanuel would surprise me, but on paper I'd love that pick (have done very little research though). 6'4" lefty 1B who mashes with a great eye, sounds like a Blue Jay to me. If it wasn't for his poor showing in the Cape Cod league, he'd be ranked higher on a lot of draft boards.

Schanuel was also 14-1 stealing bases. Very good pure hitting ability, pop, likely a good defender at first base, runs better than your average first baseman. Sign me up.

Dunedin has a big lead.

And with that, Orelvis is officially hitting .200!

Palmegiano was just a homer short of the cycle.

ESPN Mock 1.0 wnt up May 30.

Blake Mitchell, C, Sinton HS (TX)

"Mitchell is one of the prep bats to get the short end of the stick here -- there's simply too many of them to all jam into picks in the teens, as buzz would suggest. I'm hearing the Jays mostly linked to athletic prep bats like Dillon Head, but we're getting to the point where Waldrep is a defensible choice, and Toronto is taking a long look there as well."

Schanuel is the next pick to the Cards.
